Video tutorials
So, I decided to make some video tutorials.
What do you want tutorials of the most? AI? Iscript? Dat editing? Sound editing? Whaaaaaat?
I just made a video that gives a very basic summary of how my Terran RequiemD AI functions. The sound desyncs because camtasia is retarded so I couldn't make it too long.
It's about 40mb and 15 minutes long.

Note - I can't make tutorials on rhino modeling because I forgot how to use rhino.
Yeah, I stutter and stumble over words a lot. It's autism, so deal with it.

Re: Video tutorials
Video tutorials? Hmm.. You sparked me an idea!!
If you really care to, I'd say start with the simple stuff that people keep asking about. Recall with the announcement of SC2, a lot of people are attempting to mod SC again, but don't have a clue as to how. Yes, it's boring and probably three steps to us. But a lot of people don't even know how to color change a portrait or BinEdit!

Re: Video tutorials
So give me a list. I can't say I messed with binedit much but with the new binedit out at maplantis it can't be too hard to figure it out.

Re: Video tutorials
Well, for starters, for the less experienced you can go over the simple stuff in quick tutorials:
Name changing, portrait editing, weapon changing, grp editing, using smacker, creating an sempq, tips in StarEdit, .... Now I wanna do some o.O

Re: Video tutorials
Mesks's IceCC intermediate demonstration 01
Join this old dog on a horrible and pain-filled journey to importing the Liquid Fusion Frigate into ITAS, replacing the Dark Templar.
Okay, I made a video demonstrating the basic steps into adding a grp replacing a ground unit (in this case a Dark Templar with a Liquid Cock Frigate). You also get to see just how bad I can get when I A.) haven't modded in 2 years and B.) have no coffee. You also get to see how camtasia cripples my computer. But, regardless, across 4 segments and about 37 minutes of intense hardcore action, you'll be a MASTER of starcraft modding.
Part 1 - 144mb - 27min http://www.staff.samods.org/iskatumesk/ ... opart1.avi
Embark on an amazing adventure as I struggle with camtasia and windows to give you most of the major steps in adding a converted unit using icecc and datedit. I forget several important things, but I cover them later once I realized my folly.
Part 2 - 21mb - 1:32min http://www.staff.samods.org/iskatumesk/ ... opart2.avi
My first ingame test. I clearly forgot to do some things, huh?
Part 3 - 22mb - 4:22min http://www.staff.samods.org/iskatumesk/ ... opart3.avi
I fix up what I forgot, but forget two other things. Horray?
Part 4 - 70mb ~50mb - 2:42mb http://www.staff.samods.org/iskatumesk/ ... t4h264.avi
Don't ask me why this is half the size of the video like ten times its length. So, I encoded it h264 for you, cutting it down a bit. Hell if I know why it's still so damn large. This is my final ingame test. I forget to change the shadow ID to the same as the unit id in images.dat, and I also forgot to set the unit to targeted as an air unit in units.dat. Both are fairly simple changes you can do on your own and don't warrant a part 5.
On second thought, I'm gonna make a new set of tutorials, covering all of the superficial stuff I didn't cover. Such as the two aforementioned fixes, making new projectiles and effects, doing strings, and making it function with the AI.

Re: Video tutorials
Mesks's IceCC intermediate demonstration 02 - The Liquid Fusion Frigate Part 2
Join this old dog on a horrible and pain-filled journey to prettying up and making functional the Liquid Fusion Frigate into ITAS, replacing the Dark Templar.
Well, the frigate's in the game, and it works. Now we need to give it (and similar Confed units) a Confederate-styled projectile, make it buildable from the Capital Facility, and so forth. This segment covers the process of copying my Pulse Cannon attributes to the fragmentation grenade, making it an example unique firing sound in Audition by editing something I already have lying around, and making the unit buildable from the capital facility using Stargraft and the first memgraft.
Part 1 - 67mb, 15min http://www.staff.samods.org/iskatumesk/ ... 2part1.avi
We begin. I cover the process of momentarily dicking with audition and all other major steps in producing the projectile. There is some pretty serious sound desyncing, but that is completely out of my hands. It's a result of the considerable lag camtasia produces.
Part 2 - Omitted
I omit this part, which was a small section covering Stargraft, in favor of part 4.
Part 3 - 9mb - 50sec http://www.staff.samods.org/iskatumesk/ ... 2part3.avi
Whoa, what the fuck is going on?
Do not allow Stargraft to import tbl files from another source. After I was done with recording these videos, I realized this had happened because I used the old ITAS pat file that was broken because of a previous attempt to import strings into it. Really crazy shit happened.
Part 4 - 19mb - ~3min http://www.staff.samods.org/iskatumesk/ ... 2part4.avi
You may choose to omit this part if you use Firegraft. HOWEVER, a lot of what I do here, although quick, still applies to Firegraft. I don't use firegraft because I mod 1.10. A very brief section here for completionness.
Part 5 - 36mb ~4min http://www.staff.samods.org/iskatumesk/ ... t5h264.avi
We test out everything in an environment that doesn't light itself on fire. The Confed's projectile works perfectly and the Liquid Fusion corvette is fully functional save cosmetics. I broke the Missile Frigate button, but I fix that later on out of the video so there's no need for you to worry about it. I really don't know why the fuck the SC ingame videos are so huge when they are like 1/2 the resolution of the tutorial videos. I am even using H264 on like half the bitrate of my XXE videos... and they're STILL huge. Oh well. 36mb isn't going to kill your bandwidth. The disco water is camtasia being idiotic again. I'll try messing with some settings for the next segment.

Re: Video tutorials
Why are you downloading codec packs that just break things? Just use VLC if you're having codec issues, like I said, geez.
