Im sure someone's probably brought this up before but I really wanted to see if anyone planned on modding the sc2 engine into the units of and balance of starcraft one. Of course its a lot harder than it sounds but has anyone put serious thought to it? With some of the controversy over the new units (hardcounters etc). It would be so badass to play sc1 in the context of sc2.
Any thoughts?

Welcome. I would have no doubt if someone were to be looking to mod StarCraft II into StarCraft due to the controversial "extremely different" playstyle. I've spoken to a few people looking to do this, but whether they've progressed at all, I'm unsure. Though I'm sure many projects like this, including StarCraft II to WarCraft III will pop up soon after release.

Such a project is sure to be easier after release, as well, with a more refined, finished editor and many of the classic units being featured in it, such as the medic, goliath, scout, etc. You'll definitely see a bunch of people try it and, eventually, I'm sure someone will do it. Everyone is just waiting for the real editor to make anything like that.
