RequiemD update imminent

Post by IskatuMesk »

In the next day or so I'll be releasing a version of my AI mod,

RequiemD version Final Battle

This version is the result of an enormous advancement in the understanding and approach of script structure. This version will feature;

- A large number of stability improvements, making the AI as stable and reliable as possible in the SC engine. Few instances of "softlocking" and virtually all hardlocking instances have been corrected.
- Functional Warlord scripts for Zerg, and other otherwise finnicky builds.
- Improved speed and aggressiveness. The Warlord script had a lair halfway done by the time Ricky started getting his barracks.
- Accomplishment of a dream I set out to do a year before I entered SC modding.

As the name implies, this version will push RequiemD past the beta stages into a fully complete mod. This will be my first project that ever accomplished what it set out to do. It will provide a vast improvement over standard SC AI built for large games and FFA's.

This mod will function across any version of Brood War.

gratz, if its playable over battle.net with other people that have the mod I'd love to play it with the usual people on vent sometime.

I wonder if Mucky would be able to beat this.

Previously he definitely could. There's things the AI will never be able to do (micro, handle economy, not softlock randomly), so a decent player shouldn't have that much difficulty.

Come SC2 and the power of C, though... oh, you're going to see some evil shit.

Oh, don't worry - I know pretty much nothing about C past theorycrafting and a bit of reading it.

I hope I can backdoor half of RequiemX by converting GUI triggers to code and then making it global, but considering how ridiculously difficult/abstract that was in wc3 (no one knew how to do it), there may not be much hope for getting around it...

GUI triggers are my savior.. Too bad they've become too complex in WC3 for me to know how to do anything, really.

I was pretty decent with GUI triggers in wc3 after working on the LoL aos and another project, but not enough to do spells. I think doing some of the things, like the profile system, for RequiemX would be easy enough to do.

Micro aspects, on the other hand... oh jesus.

It makes it as good as within the limits of the SC engine. The limits being...

- I cannot alter how they place buildings, micro, handle economy, use spells, so on so forth.
- There is a lot of hardcoded and format issues that introduce script stability issues I simply can't fix.
- The AI does a lot of other retarded things, like try to assemble attacks inside the enemy's base getting his units killed one by one.

Past that, though, my scripts modify;

- Build orders, upgrade and attack composition

to become vastly faster, tougher, and use more units.

Okay, so I ran into some pretty big issues with the carrier/battlecruiser scripts not wanting to work.

I'll probably get it fixed tomorrow or the next day.

Until then, have this clip of an upcoming video featuring the AI.

wow......nice video...you know whats the best thing about it. the fact that it won't even open >.< I mean neither real player, nor windows player, nor quicktime can open this. congrats, this is the first video i have ever encountered that is utterly unopenable.

edit: hey I actually managed to get the sound to work at least :P
edit2:its codec problems that are causing this....

Install K-Lite Codec Pack (either one) or CCCP.
