Re: Throne of Armageddon
You've succeeded in giving me an erection.
I like the weapon effects, different without overloading FPS. Did you change the shield effects for your rapeship?
Is it possible to change ship death explosions at all in SoaSE?

Wow...
If only this could be released publicly when complete.
(as you said it was going to be private)

Should've played Adagio For Strings here.
Seriously, this looks fucking awesome, and it reminds me of Homeworld.

I saw the whole thing. Very cool mod you've got there. Goosepimples every time the lasers switched on.
I have seen the Desler. I have tasted of his milk and honey.

Re: Throne of Armageddon
90% chance this project's dead folks, the 25k poly limit just irks me too much and limits my new modeling way too much.
So I released this demo video I made of the Great Knight when I first added it.

Re: Throne of Armageddon
This is a mod? What game did you base it in? Do you think you'll be able to port it over to another medium with a higher poly limit. You look like you've gone way too far to quit now. This is ridiculous.

Re: Throne of Armageddon
Game is Sins of a Solar Empire, and yes it is/was a mod. Many of the things you see are custom, including SFX and particles and textures.
There is no other RTS suitable for 3d space combat.

Re: Throne of Armageddon
Honestly, sins itself is a huge letdown. The battles take way too long, involve virtually no user intervention, and are very dull. Once you get past the gimmicks of the 4x genre you realize the gameplay is actually really, really weak.
Also, turning arcs. Jesus Christ and the Ladderday Saints. Even big ol slow ships have turning arcs that go around half the maps. Did I mention that the game has minefields? Well, that isn't a big issue because 90% of the time mines don't actually trigger when you run right into them.
The engine is very, very out of its league. No moving turrets (homeworld 1 had that, Earth 2150 had that, hell I think even Total Annihilation had that), some very weird methods of handling damage and effects... very clunky. But only like 8 guys were working on it, so they clearly cut a lot of corners.
What pisses me off most is not the game but their dreadfully awful forums.
