New Campaign: My Life for Aiur! Episode I

Post by omega20 »

BACKGROUND
Well, while I was working on my campaign Fall and Rise, I discovered that its story and characters weren't well designed. The campaign story had many changes, many corrections... So, I've decided to remake it for SC2. The campaign will be changed and improved with time and hopefully I'll finish it after SC2 is released.

However, my work on FAR has bring to me new ideas. And with them, a new and more perfect story for a new campaign. I present to you:

StarCraft: My Life for Aiur! Episode I
By omega20

My Life for Aiur! Episode I is an nine-chapter Protoss campaign featuring all-new characters, full briefing, custom portraits and an original storyline. The Episode I is set before and during the original Starcraft Brood War Protoss campaign “The Stand", featuring the last days of the Conclave and some other... interesting features.

My Life for Aiur! is, at my opinion, two things:
  • 1. It is an alternate perspective to the original campaign of Brood War, and it will attemp to answer some BW unanswered question like what happened in Shakuras during the Quest for the Uraj and Khalis Crystals and many others.
  • 2. It will be probably my last (and hopefully, the best) shot to SC I. I don't want to play SCII if I haven't finished a worth SC campaign, so I can promise to you that this campaign WILL be finished.
- The campaign will be set in 9 chapters, with at least 1 map in each one.

Main Characters:

PROTOSS:

[imgwh 60x56]http://saga.samods.org/scport/modpprev/modcarrier3.jpg[/imgwh]
Talladun:
Age: 785.
Birthplace: Scion Province, Aiur
Position: Grand Executor of the Fleet of the Executor.
Affiliation: Protoss Conclave, Fleet of the Executor

Unlike most of his peers, he does not sympathize with the Conclave’s decisions he believes are often born of ignorance. He has spent many days practicing the art of the Protoss combat techniques, as well as studying the teachings of the Protoss heroes Khas and Adun. He is loyal to his homeworld and his people, and would never put anything above the safety of the Protoss race.

[imgwh 60x56]http://saga.samods.org/scport/modpprev/modarchon3.jpg[/imgwh]
Ghenaros/Tywald:
Age: Unknown. (Both Templars lived at the time of Adun)
Birthplace: Aiur
Position: Second-in-command of the Fleet of the Executor
Affiliation: Protoss Conclave, Fleet of the Executor

Ghenaros/Tywald is a Protoss Archon and Talladun's advisor. He personally led his fellow warriors into battle against those who called themselves the enemies of the Protoss Empire. Considering Ghenaros/Tywald's high psionic power, he is likely that there is more to him than meets the eye.

[imgwh 60x56]http://saga.samods.org/scport/modpprev/redalderis.jpg[/imgwh]
Sereas:
Age: 1053.
Birthplace: Kalarth Province, Aiur
Position: Judicator, Leader of the Sereas' Armada
Affiliation: Protoss Conclave, Sereas' Armada

Sereas is a high-ranking Judicator held in high esteem by the Conclave. Like with many of his fellow Judicators, he is a firm believer in the Khala. Most people say Sereas is a good, but a power-hungry person. Despite his calm voice and a sociable character, Sereas is just like Aldaris. He is a stalwart supporter of the Khala and, of course, has a strong hatred of the Dark Templar, and would not hesitate to label those who disagreed with his philosophy as heretics.

[imgwh 60x56]http://saga.samods.org/scport/modpprev/Sno-Corsair.jpg[/imgwh]
Damiarch:
Age: 785.
Birthplace: Siedan Province, Aiur
Position: Praetor of the Sereas' Armada
Affiliation: Protoss Conclave, Sereas' Armada

Damiarch is very serious about his occupation. In fact, many people who've seen him never saw him laugh for once. However, despite that fact, he is a skilled and disciplined warrior who follows the principles of honor and the Khala. Different from most Protoss, however, he only lives to obey the wishes of his father, and care little about his Protoss brethren.

ZERG:

[imgwh 60x56]http://saga.samods.org/scport/modzprev/modzasz.jpg[/imgwh]
Quilrae:
Age: Unknown (older).
Birthplace: Zerus
Position: Senior Cerebrate, Master of the Manticore Brood.
Affiliation: Zerg Swarm, Manticore Brood

Quilrae is a smart and brave Cerebrate, who only lives to please the will of his master, the Overmind. He believes in the destiny of the Swarm, and will be able of anything for it. He sees the Protoss as the culmination of the Swarm's search for perfection, and the Terrans as a weak and expendable 'weapon' to get that perfection.

UNKNOWN:

[imgwh 60x60]http://www.patsyclinehta.com/images/Que ... ipArt2.jpg[/imgwh]
Unknown:
Age: Unknown.
Birthplace: Unknown
Position: Unknown
Affiliation: Unknown

The identity of this mysterious person remains unknown at this point. Very little is known about him. However, his activities have interfered with some Dominion business. Dominion recon probes have been following his trail for long time, yet they have not been able to identify him. Curiously, some probes have followed him to several remote and forgotten planets from where emerge strange psychic and psionic energies... None of these probes has returned from these missions to relay more information, however.

He plays a key role in the campaign.

Only this episode (the first). The other two will be set just after the Brood War and -maybe- during its late stages. :)

Hey, thanks man! :D I'll need beta testers for some further missions. ;D

EDIT: A question, are you still working in Ascension of Duran?

I am always working on AoD, however what happens usually is I will go months without working then get a lot accomplished in a short amount of time, when I get inspired I will work on it. If I hit a lot of snags it deters me from working on it and currently I am at a snag in like 4 of the maps I am currently working on so its kind of annoying. I just need to work past it and I eventually will, when the timing is right ;)

OK. Good luck, then. I feel that AoD will be a great campaign! :D

UPDATE:

In order to get this campaign done and be perfect, I'll need Beta Testers.  ;)

If you want to become a Beta Tester please PM me. The first mission isn't completed yet, as I'm working right now in the most difficult missions. Because of that, it'll take a while to send to you some maps to test.

Anyone who has questions or even have Beta testing results, please, post everything here. The campaign has been also be announced on other sites, so you can post any question or comment about it there. (Those sites are Blizzforums.com, StarCraft Universe.com and Warboards.org)

Manticore Brood? No way, Mr. omega20...  >:(
You dress up with foreign feathers! Is this clear to you?

The Manticore Brood is commanded by Zethys, the mad Zerg Cerebrate from the unfortunately not published Antioch Chronicles 3 - Thoughts in Chaos. And also if Auspex and his team could not move the AC 3 in the reality - so you still simply have to pinch long no right the names from this universe.

So please, change this immediately... Because this is simply one big cheek!!

If Auspex and his team could not move the AC 3 in the reality... Zethys would be the FORMER MASTER of the Manticore Brood. In AC, he was captured by the Kel-Morian scientist, and removed from his brood. Perhaps he could have returned to the Swarm, we don't know. AC 3 wasn't released, so we may never get the answer. My brood's campaign is called so to make reference to Zethys' brood. In my campaign, I want to make references to, at least, two unreleased campaigns: AC 3 and The Hammerhead Project.

And, as Legion says, the Manticore Brood is probably appearing in other many (and most likely less known) campaigns/maps/etc. The broods are named after beasts of Earth's mythology. "Manticore" is a really known name, and many people could use it in his campaigns or maps (do you remember the Battlecruiser Manticore from Aeon of the Hawk?).

Ah, yes. And with it everything is okay, or what?

No matter what other people have made in the past...
The thing is, you have actually no right to use this name in your campaign.
I find impertinently to myself to serve simply from the body of thought of other people. In my eyes, this is quite a clear case of theft.

It's the same like with the storyline of StarCraft: Brood War...
You can create a campaign which plays in parallel with original action of Blizzard, but with own heroes and storylines. But you cannot want to continue the destiny of the storylines, characters, names, etc. created by Blizzard, as well as in the past over and over again thousands of nerds have acted.

This is steered solely by the author itself, and this is Blizzard. In the present situation here it is Auspex, and not YOU!

.....

Ah, and by the way: I have read the plot from AC 3 and Zethys it is extinguished at the end together with his own brood...

Man, give it a rest.  Theft? Come on, you can't be serious! If you want to give it a label, Auspex was one of the millions 'nerds' who created an expansion campaign without asking money for it. Auspex was NOT the author of the original Blizzard campaigns, so according to your own logic, that would make him a thief as well. After all, he used Blizzard's names (New Antioch, for instance) and gave it a meaning in his own campaign.

By the way, by saying what you said, you just called a lot of people here thieves. *cough* Ascension of Duran... took an existing Blizzard character... namely Duran...

Omega20 has EVERY right to use the name. Just like everyone has the RIGHT to use the name Turmalis, Rond, Vaeregoth or whatever. Whether you like it or not is irrelevant.

My god...

Thanks, Legion. Good to see there's someone reasonable here. +1 pie to you.

The Fenix, Vision of the Future, Ascension of Duran, War of the Tribes, New Avalon,...

Oh, don't worry then. Famous campaigns like those above AREN'T attempting to continue the destiny of the characters, storylines, names, etc. created by Blizzard. ::)

You see, Eredalis, you've every right to post your opinions and thoughts in the forums, but you can't really want us to don't use the names of characters and/or factions only because they appear in other campaigns.

Yes, Legion, in my statement is a logical mistake. (Antioch, etc.) Thanks for that. Nevertheless, I remain with my opinion...

Ah, and omega20: I do not want to offend you, I have said only my opinion.
We will see whether you it get also to deliver such a quality like Auspex.
What I doubt...

Good luck!  :-X

The name Manticore is from mythology. Whether omega20's work is of the same quality as Auspex's is irrelevant. Auspex never released anything about his Manticore brood, so if I were to cook up a map with a brood called the Manticore brood, it'd technically already be better than his - and omega20's, considering he hasn't released anything either. :)

But anyway, just drop it. So they both had the idea to create a brood with the same name that neither of them created. Big fucking deal.

Don't worry, You aren't offending me. It is only your opinion.

And about the quality of the campaigns... Well, really, you can't compare both campaigns. The mine isn't going to be voiced, as AC. Instead, I'm adding music themes to the maps to add a nice atmosphere to the map. As for the terrain... I'll post some screenshots soon.

Well, I've already created the brood in several maps. It isn't released yet... but it is created. :P
