Uniqueness is one thing i liked about Shadows in Babylon 5

Oh and Stargate seems to suffer from humanoids and mostly humans everywhere, also all planets are Canada except for the few desert places.

Or New Zealand or California.
No more humans, please.

To be fair, the entire premise of the show is about the same sets of species traveling across 2624352 planets, including Earth, that are all connected by stargates.  But I never really watched that much of it, so I don't know how bad the other species on the show could be.

Also, Babylon 5, for that matter, four of the five council races were humans with different haircuts, rubber masks, or big bone things on their heads, and the fifth, while not actually being humanoid, did wear a giant human-shaped suit.

But it's like Thalraxal said.  It's infinitely less complicated to do special effects to create non-humanoid aliens in TV/movies.  The Shadows, in Babylon 5, I'm pretty sure they rarely ever were actually on screen, and when they were, it was super obvious CGI.

The 'desert planet' set was also in Canada.
