Well there is now that war3 no CD patch that is downloadable over battle.net ...
However when I DO try to run warcraft 3 with it, it just minimize back each time when I start it up or attempt to maximize it back. Do you guys have any freaking clue why it does that with that specific patch?
By the way, it also do that to me with that BW no CD patch as well.
Lame.

With the SC No-CD patch you have to manually move the Install.exe files on your StarCraft and Brood War CDs into your StarCraft directory and rename them Starcraft.mpq and Broodwar.mpq. Dunno about the WC3 patch, haven't had the chance to try it yet, but I imagine the process wouldn't be too different.

You don't have to do anything for War3, as all the necessary files are already on your computer.

Re: Well ... damn war3 no CD patch
Ah nevermind, I just realized the reason ...
I recently downloaded one of those folding programs (basically to let it use your computer's processor for those scientific calculations) ... however it got kind of a bad habit to auto-start on computer startup and it also uses your video card for quicker calculations (since they are better for mass floating point calculations).
So I had to quit that folding program to fix the issue. However, for some reason, even with 1.21 with that folding program, I had no issues but with 1.21a, it did. Thus, it was kind of easy to presume that the programmers just made a modification or two along with the no CD code that my computer setup didn't like at all or something. Since I recently got a new job, I didn't had the time to check it out correctly until now.

Re: Well ... damn war3 no CD patch
As far as I can tell, it will only open one or the other, not both. If it finds BroodWar.mpq, it opens that (and not StarCraft.mpq). If it does not find it, it opens up StarCraft.mpq instead. If neither exist, it falls back to looking for them on the CD.Thalraxal wrote: With the SC No-CD patch you have to manually move the Install.exe files on your StarCraft and Brood War CDs into your StarCraft directory and rename them Starcraft.mpq and Broodwar.mpq. Don't point that camera at me!
