Can you guys stop asking when it will be out
. Also, if you want to play it so badly the wait makes it all the more enjoyable when it finally does come out. Ya know make the wait worth while.

I was just thinking about Ziel's title, wouldn't he technically be called "Aeromancer"?

Editing boss abilities. So far they are largely independant of the bosses themselves (most of them don't have a set ability set yet). Found out that Blizzard changed the Cloud ability (and consequently made my old Keys of Sealing ability, Mist of Lost Souls, broken). Oh well... at least this should pose an interesting obstacle I haven't used yet.
Ziel isn't called 'Aeromancer' because that implies that he's a mage. His wind abilities are actually innate and inherited by blood.

I was wondering about that Lord Hades....
Who is he? maybe it's just me,but it's a bit hard to believe that a guy from the underworld wants
to restore order on the planet Earth (as he says to Nekurow)

Re: Wanderers of Sorceria Dedicated Update Thread
The sword Orpheus is a soul drinker weapon. Hades is using Nekurow to collect souls for him, and Nekurow doesn't care. The more souls Orpheus collects, the stronger it becomes, and this is especially important in Purgatory because soul energy makes its wielder much stronger than normal (or rather, gives them more direct control over the dream world-- Hikaru, Arcadia, and Yue Fang, most prominently, exerted this type of control overtly). Without Orpheus Nekurow would exhibit no ability to bend the world to his will-- and without Orpheus Nekurow is naked as a jaybird; he needs the sword in order to compete with his enemies.
Hades actually has no true involvement in the rest of the campaign (his role in the grand scheme of things, like Sypha and Cinder, is beyond the scope of the story), but the strength of Orpheus does come into play toward the end as Nekurow is itching for a fight. As earlier in the campaign, he would like nothing better than to drink the soul of Deathclaw, which would put Orpheus's power through the roof.
Orpheus, of course, is named after the Greek who went to the underworld to bring back his wife, and failed. That more or less is Nekurow in a nutshell.

---------------spoiler-------------------------
In Book 4, in a chapter called Dragon's History, the Abolisher states that the purgatory is a world which exists beneath the world created by the high men for black moon defectors. I believe he states something like "they are like gods in your world".
I'm not sure which world the your refers to anymore...
Anyway in Book 5, Truth of the Heart, Sypha states that she got kicked out of the Celestial Court, "the den of those that sided with the traitor Avlas," I assumed that this Celestial Court is basically what governs the purgatory...

Re: Wanderers of Sorceria Dedicated Update Thread
Purgatory is the world between the Celestial world and the underworld. Purgatory is run by Purgatory-- to be more precise, it's regulated by the Black Pearl that lies in the heart of Sorceria, the Lost City; the one who controls the Black Pearl is Purgatory, both figuratively and literally speaking. Currently that person is Lord Darm, who is Dalles's friend and master, and the force behind the Dragon Slayers. In some regards the Dragon Slayers are the instruments of Purgatory's will, but the reality is they are being used (some of them figured this out already), as Purgatory is terrified of Shizuka/Deathclaw more than anything, and that plays a huge factor in Book 6.
Celestia is more or less the place of the 'good guys', typified as Heaven. Inferna is more or less the 'bad guy' place, or Hell. Essentially those that sided with Avlas live in Celestia, while those that sided with Sagila are in Purgatory. The inhabitants of Inferna, however, are those that were cast from Celestia after the conclusion of the wars (which includes Sypha), or refused to help either side in the war (which include's Cinder's people). Sypha devotes her time in raising an army to challenge Celestia and wants to add the denizens of Purgatory (and whatever she can find on Earth) to her ranks, but the denizens of Purgatory (such as Kuth'kullen), for the most part, don't give a rat's ass and don't want to leave anymore. Celestia, however, is generally aloof and are either ignorant of, or are bemused, by Sypha's attempts to take them out.
For his part, Hades lives in the underworld. He's more or less like his mythological counterpart; he's not living down there because of some sort of punishment or anything-- he's there because he needs to. It's his job. He is consolidating his power base as the bulk of Inferna is throwing their lot with Sypha, so he needs to be able to defend himself (considering he's actually allied with Celestia, and the fact that Celestia is essentially ignoring the problem, means Hades has to fend for himself-- and Hades doesn't like that). Choosing Nekurow as his champion was rather convenient for him, but it's not necessarily in Nekurow's best interests to be that champion.

Alright, thanks for clearing that up...also I thought that Saglia held a major grudge against Avlas, I guess that might not be the case...

Re: Wanderers of Sorceria Dedicated Update Thread
Well, he does, in regards to the fact that Avlas was the one that killed him (and betrayed him), but considering his present circumstances that's not high on his list of things to do (Sagila's primary goal of the moment is to either become alive again, or terminate his existance-- the former which is unlikely to happen anytime soon and the latter is prevented by a curse).
Beside which, Avlas is also dead. He didn't regret betraying his master, but the cost of 'killing' Sagila was too high that he died in shame over what he did (this is addressed at the beginning of Book 6).

Re: Wanderers of Sorceria Dedicated Update Thread
Hi. This is a great campaign; thanks for making it! And thanks for the updates and answering questions too!
Anyway, I thought it was interesting that you say in a previous post that Hokuto is mainly a plot device, because when I was playing, she seemed like a huge part of the story- something about the mystery of her true intentions, and this unmentioned "promise" that Shizuka made with her. Anyhow, I'm wondering if there are any long term (extending to Book 6) consequences for accepting Hokuto's aid? The characters mention that there's going to be a catch for accepting her aid...
Also, will there be a difference in Book 6 regarding whether Kevin was forgiven or not? I'm curious about this because, depending on whether she was forgiven or not, she wants revenge on different people/a person.
I'm also wondering about the six new priests; I know who five of them are (Shizuka, Kuth'kullen, Kurumi, Yue-fang, and Scaldar) but who is the one I'm missing, or was it yet to be revealed?
I always thought that Hikaru was going to end up with Miranda, but Kurumi seems to like him and they are the same age... but then why does soul exchange change Hikaru into Miranda and Miranda is still there (albeit bodiless), but then he doesn't really say anything nice about either of them (he doesn't like people who want to be teen idols and he thinks Kurumi cries to much and will never grow out of it).
Is the narrator going to be revealed at the end? I think I know who it is (someone who seems to appear on every map
); but all we really know for sure from what he says is that he's from the Jin Empire and he's observed them (as he says "from my observations"), also, I think it's a guy.
Finally, I was wondering if there was a way to accept Hokuto's aid, but keep one of the three original hero types; I'm only wondering because I want some of them to accept her aid for the sake of story, but not change to the alternative hero for the sake of game play.
I'm sorry if I'm asking too many questions...

There will be a consequence to accepting her aid. And what she made Shizuka promise is what's going to set apart her goals from Hikaru.Anyway, I thought it was interesting that you say in a previous post that Hokuto is mainly a plot device, because when I was playing, she seemed like a huge part of the story- something about the mystery of her true intentions, and this unmentioned "promise" that Shizuka made with her. Yes.Also, will there be a difference in Book 6 regarding whether Kevin was forgiven or not? I'm curious about this because, depending on whether she was forgiven or not, she wants revenge on different people/a person.
It's Hikaru.I'm also wondering about the six new priests; I know who five of them are (Shizuka, Kuth'kullen, Kurumi, Yue-fang, and Scaldar) but who is the one I'm missing, or was it yet to be revealed?
The Miranda thing was put in just for fun, actually (I just wanted to see if I could do it). There wasn't really anything meant by it.I always thought that Hikaru was going to end up with Miranda, but Kurumi seems to like him and they are the same age... but then why does soul exchange change Hikaru into Miranda and Miranda is still there (albeit bodiless), but then he doesn't really say anything nice about either of them (he doesn't like people who want to be teen idols and he thinks Kurumi cries to much and will never grow out of it).
Yeah, Hikaru is meant to underestimate Kurumi. Eveyrone underestimates her.
It's Yue Fang's brother (I made sure to explicitly name him at the start of Book 6, because 'Book 6' is considered a lost volume). By the end of Book 5 Kurumi procured Hikaru's travel journals, and, along with Shizuka's and her own, they had Yue Fang give it to Papa to deliver to Yue Zhong. He becomes fascinated by the tales and decides to collect it into a work of entertainment and present it to the Emperor. Is the narrator going to be revealed at the end? I think I know who it is (someone who seems to appear on every map Wink); but all we really know for sure from what he says is that he's from the Jin Empire and he's observed them (as he says "from my observations"), also, I think it's a guy.
The reasoning behind this is two-fold. On the one hand it is a mirror attempt at creating the "Three Kingdoms" story, which fits along the lines of Yue Fang's dream. The other, which is probably more important, it puts into wide circulation the previous attempts the Sorcerians made in the battle against Purgatory into a medium which cannot be easily destroyed. That is to say, if the heroes were to wake up from the dream, and someday return, they would lose almost all memory of their journey there (just as in regular dreams), but if they were to find the story they would be able to fix their previous mistakes. This becomes an important element toward the end of the story.
The way I have Book 6 set up at the moment you get the default Hero choice which I initially inteded for the story, but also made it possible to change that Hero at a whim. Finally, I was wondering if there was a way to accept Hokuto's aid, but keep one of the three original hero types; I'm only wondering because I want some of them to accept her aid for the sake of story, but not change to the alternative hero for the sake of game play.

Re: Wanderers of Sorceria Dedicated Update Thread
A got a few questions...
First off in a mission called The Puppetmaster as well as in The Dragon's ascension, in Book 4, Nara is described as being soulless, are soulless being simply being summoned by Nargul's magic or are they entities created by creative energy or something entirely different?
Also....there are supposed to be 5 Sorcerians powering up sorceria, right? One for every district (of which there are four) and director controlling the hub. Last journey around only 4 sorcerians went; Prince Ingram, Lord Darm, Lady Rhea and Lord Dalles. Is this supposed to imply that one of the four older Sorcerians (Sorcerians who were powering purgatory before Ingram, Dalles, Rhea and Darm arrived) who governed a district still governs it?
Also this is just a guess, but could Nara the shadowpath be Rhea....that just popped into my head

Re: Wanderers of Sorceria Dedicated Update Thread
Generally there will be four going to the city at a given time-- that is of course one for each of the Four Swords which, when all four are brought together, opens a portal to Sorceria.Blake wrote: Also....there are supposed to be 5 Sorcerians powering up sorceria, right? There are actually six individuals that are important to running Purgatory-- the four governors, the director, and the Lord of the Land. The director will never change as a function of the makeup of the world, and is occupied by Director Xine, the former overmaster of the Mekani under Sagila's command; without him the creation of Purgatory would not be possible (his vast psionic energies is being amplified by the Black Pearl, but if he leaves the entire world will be destroyed. Xine could, in fact, leave his prison whenever he wished with the power of the Black Pearl, but he is being held hostage by the other prisoners in Purgatory). The lord of Purgatory is currently occupied by Darm. The governors of the four districts have their own traditions, where one of the districts constantly changes hands.
Purgatory has control over a great many things in its own domain, but there are at least three things that it cannot control:
1. Sorcerians-- they have varying degrees by which they could control the world themselves
2. Soulless-- beings which lack a soul
3. Undead-- every type of Undead; Arcadia lost all power over Kosseimaru when he completed his transformation
4. External-- beings which exist outside Purgatory that are able to influence the world under their own power
Most of the principal characters fall into the first category. Hokuto, Sypha, and Cinder belong in 4 (although Hokuto can move freely, Sypha and Cinder had to be especially summoned by Count Zule in order to directly influence the world). Razlia the Twinflame, Gorbash, and Tessai belong in category 2 (although Gorbash needs a soul in order to run properly, as it's as dumb as a regular construct without one). The bulk of the Black Moon forces make up 3 (which is part of the reason they're almost constantly being attacked).
