Kind of looks like Zeratul on one of his little strolls.

It's neat seeing the larger version of that piece.  I hadn't even noticed Zeratul (or most of the detail in that temple-cave place) in the non-wallpaper version of it on the SC2 Artwork site.

Did anyone else first think of the Outlands in WC3 when they saw that background?

And yeah, same here, I just noticed (Zeratul in the picture, really him?) what I thought it was originally was a hydralisk with its... something crossed to make it look like its resting in peace.

Now that you mention it, it does kinda look like outlands. Keep in mind though, outlands is borderline scifi being all outter space and all with pewpew lazurs and ships. Theres going to be some familiarities between outlands and the starcraft 2 universe.

The little guy has that 'Classic Dark Templar' look, and since Zeratul's keeping all the Classic Dark Templar Flavour (TM) for himself,  it seems like it's a safe bet.  It could be just a random Dark Templar, but they're all wearing bulky hydralisk-skull armour and weiling psi-powered Scythes (Psythes?) now.

one on right looks somewhat terran figure center is zerg left is protoss
theres 2 rivers going to center i would say theres propably 3
such a room couldnt be supported alone  with 3 pillars
and noticed the rocks that seemed to be floating
notice and that the stalacites things  are not perfect
the erosion all weird the low water depth
is that light crystals or outside light
the mists is thick and rises

can you guess who zertual meets there?
