Re: LP Update/Comment Thread
I sadly don´t remember much from DMC1, I would have to play some of it to jog my memory. I never played DMC2 but I saw a speed run of it long ago, I pretty much know DMC3 and 4 inside and out. I bet you will have fun whit the inventory and menu system in DMC1 unless they changed how it works, it´s a mess.
Fun fact: DMC1 was meant to be a Resident Evil game but was turned into it´s own thing so the cameras are almost always fixed and the controls are quite odd in the first game.

Controls are fine in the first DMC, the only odd thing is needing to hold lock on for gun use on difficulties above easy. But you should always be holding lock on when in combat so it's not really an issue. Also the menu system isn't really that bad, the worst part about it is that what is selected isn't always obvious, but again that takes like 5 minutes to adjust too.ArcCain wrote:I sadly don´t remember much from DMC1, I would have to play some of it to jog my memory. Yes, 5 minutes of joy, or pain, what ever comes first.

Re: LP Update/Comment Thread
Today I am releasing the first episode of a new, secondary podcast called AWP. I've been asked a few times about my opinions on the industry and some various misc aspects that don't really fit in with the CC podcast or coffee hour. Additionally, wibod recently approached me with the idea of doing a secondary podcast.
These casts are not following any particular structure, unlike the CC cast where I prefer to have a series of subjects and either a unique guest or at least lavarinth. In this I guess we'll just have one fairly broad subject and approach it from different angles. AWP will be mostly just me/wibod/hks, though I might consider pulling someone else in. That means, pornogo, that you can stop asking about the podcast. Guest calls will come on a as-needed basis.
Unlike the CC podcast you can expect a lot more raw/non-pc of a cast. Like the cc podcast, though, we have no schedule.
We are open to subject suggestions.
The section for AWP has been added to the LP thread.
I am also almost guaranteed to hold off dragonshard and either do DMC or something else on my list because I haven't been able to get the willpower to attempt it yet. Probably because I know it'll be bad an I am kind of tired of doing bad games for now.

Re: LP Update/Comment Thread
Neat !
There are important things to quantify, if gaming is to be resurrected, where we see many basic ingredients suffer nowadays (especially music and storytelling), because once you play Planescape: Torment (which is still very flawed in certain gameplay aspects, but has a brilliant story + a glorious soundtrack), there is not much point of playing any more RPGs, as your perceptions and standards are ruined for life (in a good way).
Same things happen when you play Super Metroid or Chrono Trigger and are ruined by the fact that no soundtracks will ever be as good.
Also, the reason I tolerate the retarded in Dark Souls is mostly due to the fact that visual style and music when it is playing (actually Motoi Sakuraba compositions), are to my taste. Because I can tolerate inhuman amounts of retarded if I like music and/or art style (cue Final Fantasy 8).

Yeah, I liked the art style in demon/dark souls, it's just that they really needed to put more effort into the terrain in general. :\

The story in Torment is very overrated.

There's nothing wrong with the inventory/menu in DMC1. I can think of games with waaay worse menus. The lack of volume controls is pretty stupid though.

Tell me about it... Remember StarCraft, the first? Yes, beat me for it, but you had to go ingame to change settings. Note, INGAME!IskatuMesk wrote:There's nothing wrong with the inventory/menu in DMC1. I can think of games with waaay worse menus. The lack of volume controls is pretty stupid though.

They work for some dudes but not dante.
Falchion, I mean there are none at all. I have to change them through the control panel. I literally have no idea what point your comment even had.

Re: LP Update/Comment Thread
Exactly. There was a lack of an "Options/Settings" button in the Brood War menu, you had to get into a campaign mission to change it. But it were sound/game speed/subtitle settings only, as I can remember. As for graphics, Brood War couldn't be helped at all, I'm afraid.IskatuMesk wrote:They work for some dudes but not dante.

But, as you said, there are worse menus. Red Alert 3 for an instance, where shit is virtually impossible to read with all the communist red lying around... ¬¬
