May the rants in defense of UDK begin.

[Yeah, I'm asking your opinion. Me, I think it's alright. Sort of.]

I don't have enough experience in the UDK to make any kind of judgements, so what I would say is this;

I would use the UDK because of how easy it is to put unreal game assets back into it. E.g. Lineage 2.

Both of them can look as amazing as they want. We will never see it applied to anything with all of them occupying the dongs of every console manufacturer over PC hardware.

Graphics isn't the thing that matters when it comes to choosing engines, how well it is coded are. The engine might be good looking, but could it handles 1000+ entities on screen at once well ? Would it loads chunks of needless data over and over again when you walks over some areas? Will their shaders starts breaking randomly or lags like hell for no apparent reason? Could it supports AA? (Some game engines are wretched when it comes to AA support) What kind of specific engine it is? Voxel based? Deferred shading?

That to be said, I've never touched both engines, the only engine I ever work with is Source, an engine that would be decent if it didn't used codes made 50 billions years ago for the original Quake.

It's good, with respect to creating cinematic stuff. I don't have any clue as to how far it can go with respect to game genres it can support effectively and without too much nuance.

Regardless of what I just said, I haven't gone far enough to judge. Based on what I know though, this upgrade is beef.
