[Falchion]

Time to remember an old, gone giant who maybe was not the best in strategy games, but at least knew how to make a point: Bullfrog.

Populous: The Beginning

While the other Populous titles set you as a God who could do anything, The Beginning twists you as a broad with magical powers who's to mangle other broads and her followers with magic, fire, brute muscle, bridging, tornadoes and pure lightning. One of the best I've played in my early years.

Syndicate

For the record: THIS is the REAL Syndicate, not that piece of junk EA is trying to put together to 'suck on the industry's rotten corpse', to hear Iskatu tell it. This has the feeling of a pure Cyberpunk style, with everything you can imagine. Plus, miniguns rule here! I repeat: THIS is the REAL Syndicate.

Theme Hospital

Theme Hospital is a classic, the finest of Bullfrog's games before the Rollercoaster Tycoon mania came up and overshadowed this masterpiece. I mean, what else can you want besides treating all sorts of crazy diseases possible (Giant heads, Elvis syndrome, wide eyes and Werewolves) and even drive your staff nuts??? Definitely recommended!

Bullfrog was fantastic. Populous: The Beginning was great, but I always liked Dungeon Keeper more, although I did miss out on the second installment of the series. However, I recently grabbed a copy of DK2, as previously covered by Lavarinth, off of GOG and I'm looking forward to finally getting to play it.

Make sure you run that sucker on an emulator if it crashes a lot. Let me know if you need help, I run it flawlessly now finally. Even installed straight from my CD!

Got this game two days ago. I'm completely hooked.

It's funny, I also acquired Grim Fandango with it, which is reputed to be the #1 adventure game of all time. Try it for a couple of hours, then installed Sanitarium. Haven't touched GF since.

Clock Tower: The First Fear


For the SNES. Heard about this one, watched some gameplay videos on youtube about it, and downloaded it for an SNES emulator.
It's a nice atmospheric game, mind you.

Sanitarium was highly underrated. To this day it's still one of the best adventure games I've played. Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, etc are comical and fun to continue playing just because of their humor- but Sanitarium and The Longest Journey just engulfed my life.

The Secret of Monkey Island

Actually, it's kind of interesting how the most popular Adventure games were all, ultimately, comedies of some sort. Was that just the direction the genre went, or were more serious adventure games simply less popular?

There were plenty of serious adventure games, such as King's Quest, Loom, The Dig, Full Throttle, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade / Fate of Atlantis, Neuromancer, Myst, etc.

It was really fun to unravel the mistery behind the story. The puzzles were hell, though.

I like Clock Tower ambience, but the game plays slower than a slug making a world tour.

There were plenty of serious adventure games, such as King's Quest, Loom, The Dig, Full Throttle, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade / Fate of Atlantis, Neuromancer, Myst, etc.

The Dig was good, never did finish it. Should probably get back on that. I already mentioned Full Throttle, and that SO had comedic value in it.
