But Westwood killed themselves by releasing Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun and Blade Runner, which was extremely expensive in development and the greatest flop in their history. After Blade Runner, EA bought the publisher of Westwood Studios, Virgin Interactive, because they had massive financial problems. With this step, the downward spiral for Westwood begins: Many devs leaves the company. They released Lands of Lore III way too early, and the expected success of C&C: TS wasn't nearly profitable.
So yes, EA killed Westwood, mainly in the aftermath. But Westwood had complicity, with their self-destructable desire to go out on a limb...
