Soon DotA 2 will step on them or flop entirely, but Valve doesn't help out with just anything.

Re: League of Legends (DotA)
Back when it was DotA (yeah yeah yeah, AoS whatever blah blah blah), it was all we'd play.
I got into it years before, back before it was big, before Blizzard made it one of their official tourney games, we'd play the shit out of it.
There was one time I made a horror film about a group of computer gamers all dying in one night where a ghost haunted their LAN server. We shot it in this dude's basement for like, two weeks. At first, all we'd play was Quake 2 (because we were actually playing games during the shoot) until I managed to convince them to just try out Dota. After that, it was non-stop DotA all the time. It even got in the way of us finishing the movie because we didn't want to stop pwning each other in the game.
After that, I played it all the time while shooting Experiment 7 and got some friends of mine online to get on a TeamSpeak channel just to play DotA. Knowing that they'd never play WC3 outside of DotA, we just ran off a ripped copy of WC3 and played on a private server. All the time.
When Demigod came out, we were elated because we were finally going to get a legit standalone DotA game from some of the creators. But it was so damned buggy and the charm of DotA just wasn't there.
And then came League of Legends. And the skies parted and angels sang. And that was all she wrote for us.
We've been playing it ever since, religiously. And come to find out, my buddy Zileas had worked for them for about forever.
I LOVE League of Legends. It's simple, fun and free. Nothing ground breaking, but I'm not a game snob. I'm a poor film maker who likes to kill his friends over and over again.
I've been trying to convince them to let me voice one of their champions, but the fuckers would rather pay some "professional" to do it. Bet I could do it better, for the same kind of Free they let me play the game for. But whatevs. Let them waste their money. They'll be sorry. They'll see! They'll see and they'll be sorry they saw!

Re: League of Legends (DotA)
Judging by their sound files, their professional actors aren't very professional. :\

Re: League of Legends (DotA)
Vocal sound is incredibly minimal in LoL, especially considering your hero is selected at all times. Mix it in with the music and SFX though, and the quality doesn't seem so bad.
AA, do I still not have you on my friend's list in LoL, Jesus-tap-dancing-Christ.

Sacrifice? Isn't that that RPG-RTS hybrid kind of deal? I'm sure I have a CD lying around somewhere...

Ah, Sacrifice... The one and only original game with quality, before it's idea was raped of by EA and Double Fine for that Brutal Legend game....

Re: League of Legends (DotA)
Well, I played it probably years after it was supposed to be hip, so I didn't really find it terribly outstanding. I think it stood out more to me than Warcraft 3 and other similar games. Skirmish was incredibly snow-bally - if you lost any dudes the opposing players gained huge momentum from losing your souls and you had no hope of ever getting them back. Made it no fun to play. I never finished the campaign though.Thalraxal wrote:Aye, that's the one. Always thought it looked interesting. How did it turn out anyway?IskatuMesk wrote:Sacrifice? Bleh. Sacrifice is avaliable over on GoG. I might give it a try sometime, but I think I'll play Dungeon Keeper 2 first... Re: League of Legends (DotA)
Dungeon Keeper 2 = Win. If you play, we must Hamachi multiplayer!
Though I recommend (and will be stream recording) setting up and playing on Virtual PC 2007 for a 99.9% guarantee no crash experience.
