There is a big difference between very very long videos that have content that legitimately uses the whole length and videos that essentially can just cut from 10 hours to 3-5 minutes and just have your video player's Loop setting to On.

Okay, 1.8 GB for that 10 hours video might not be "that" much but it's still like 1.75 GB wasted in a ridiculously pointless fashion in my book.
