F*CK iTunes
My wife has, on occassion, used iTunes to purchase seasons of shows. Today she asked me if I could look over her laptop and clear out some space, as she was down to less than a gig. Guess what was taking up 50% of her HD? iTunes, with all her shows. I gave her a call about the discovery. I figured once I got the all-clear, it'd be a simple matter of deletion of those old shows, then I could move on to scandisk and defraging. No dice, as my wife had recently read on a forum she visits that iTunes only allows you to download your purchases once. ...Wait, what?
I'm used to services like Steam, where if you end up needing to reinstall your OS, or you change computers, whatever the case may be, you can re-download and install any of your games, or even your entire Steam game library. No problem, no questions asked. They're your games, you own them; as long as you're logged into your account you can use those games. Makes sense, doesn't it? Apparently not in the realm of Apple and iTunes. This news quite literally sickened me. What ass-backward moron formulated such a business model?
F*ck iTunes. If you didn't know about this policy, I'm glad I got the word out to you. I for one will never, ever use iTunes so long as they enforce this outdated and draconian practice. I encourage you to do the same, and further spread the word to those who may not know.

I'll be frank about the iTunes thing: that kind of business practice sucks hairy horse balls.
It's pretty stupid to think that your customers are only ever going to download any one bit of your list of downloads once and expect them to have loaded them into some portable storage device such as a USB; normal people are generally too stupid to think ahead in regards to instances like this.
Had received an iTunes gift card from one of my cousins (BIG family, by the way) back in December.
Fun Fact: I hadn't even used the darn thing yet, or even gone to get anything off iTunes as far as I can remember. It's still sitting around somewhere (or tucked away, even).

Apple is just as closed off in terms of listening to the userbase as Microsoft is; it just happens to have better marketing people to cover up that fact. Amazon is a touch better with their purchases (You can download video 3 times and watch on their website an infinite number of times).
What bothers me is that the MPAA might think iTunes is the only alternative in town to music pirating. Also wait, you're married?

Married for over a year now, in fact.
One: Yeah, we're going to have to do something like that to clear up space.
Two: Netflix unfortunately does not work in Japan.

Sad thing is, iTunes already has your cousin's money now. Not using the card is tantamount to giving Apple a donation. Though if in order to use the card you have to install iTunes, then I suppose it's for the best. I wonder if it can be returned/exchanged...Theia_Loki wrote:Had received an iTunes gift card from one of my cousins (BIG family, by the way) back in December.

Hay Hercanic what ever happened to BT?
I haven't bought any sort of (so-called) intellectual property in nearly a decade (aside from games).
You can grow up to be just like me =)!

In case of hard drive crashes (which _sometimes_ if at all happen on Macs but quite often happen on Windows machines), you can fill out a form and they'll restore your purchased downloads. Just for the silly Windows users. Ain't that nice of 'em?
My advice: Get a mac. Judging by the nature of your problem, you're using Windows. They're shitty machines in any case. And if your wife is using her computer like a normal person (as opposed to some nerdy would-be designer or so-called programmer who can't express 'his art' on Macs... HAHA) then you'd do well to buy her a Macbook. A girl likes these things way better than some cloggy Windows laptop!
There, I said it. I meant it. And I'm here to represent it.

Bwuahahahha! Get a mac?! How does that solve the fact eventually the computer will be filled with nothing but these videos and she needs more space for more videos!

Legion, you retard. That's the dumbest shit ever. Why would you buy a mac just to use iTunes. That's fucking backwards and you know it.
You're a shill for a corporation that doesn't care if you live or die. Suck my giant magnificent balls.

Yes, plus iTunes actually works on a Mac. You Windows people just want the iTunes but fail to see it's a package deal. Sure, Apple ported the app for those 1,000 Windows user of the future. You guys have Windows. Go get your Creative of Zune or whatever mp3 players and your Bittorrents or Limewires and download everything for free because it makes you feel smart. No place for you in the world of beautiful, _working_ machines.Lavarinth wrote:Bwuahahahha! Get a mac?! Oh, and Negi: You're a shill for a corporation that doesn't care if you live or die.
That must be the stupidest thing I've heard said in this thread. Apple is an evil corporation that doesn't value our lives? I mean, that's a serious comment?
I'm just kidding guys. It's just you guys are so easy when it comes to the subject of Windows vs. Macs.
Don't throw your silly forum-speak insults (flamer, troll or hobbit or whatever) at me. I'll shut up now if it makes you feel good.
