Blizzard makes minor change to game countdown
Those of you who troll the Battle.net forums might know this already, but in games with 30 second countdowns (usually public custom map games) - the player can no longer go to the menu and disconnect after 10 seconds are on the clock. For those of us who play SotIS or Star Battle and have to deal with games dying in the lobby because of some genius disconnecting at 2 seconds left, it's a welcome stealth change from Blizzard.

A better change would have been getting rid of the pointless countdown altogether.
Oh well. We still can look forward to getting all the way through the loading screen only to have the game end because someone random'd and didn't like the hero they got

Next up: Starcraft II infects the operating system and disables "end process".

A game creator can already change the count down to whatever length of time they want, to my knowledge.

Sorry, SotIS has been in development since the beta and a dedicated programmer who will update it with bugfixes whereas Blizzard still seems to treat map releases as a one-shot.

Re: Blizzard makes minor change to game countdown
Unless I am missing something, the real problem is not being able to change the countdown IF the host starts but rather the countdown on automatic start.Lavarinth wrote:A game creator can already change the count down to whatever length of time they want, to my knowledge.
For example, if I host W&M and manually start it, I did set it to around 5-10 sec countdown (via the map editor), however if I somehow manage to fill it up for a public game, the automatic start still has the dreaded 30 sec countdown that nobody can do a damn thing.

A good question would be- Does the game's countdown stop and look for additional players after one drops?
