Hmm...

So I guess we can say that the Starcraft 2 custom creation community is experiencing a slow start.

I'd say legacy sites are the only ones slowing down. Case in point, sc2mpaster - like it or not, the site has spawned quite a share of content, of mixed quality.

No, mapster has slowed down a lot as well. It isn't just legacy sites. I've talked a little bit with a few of the people on the upper food chain there and had discussions about sc2. I haven't run across anyone yet who hasn't told me it isn't outdated or poorly handled by Blizzard yet.

But really what's killing the custom content is not Blizzard or the editor. It's the community itself.

Much like most wc3 sites were back then (rise of krill?)

And the "higher food chain" (are we still giving people vip titles and shit? I was hoping everyone had left their 16yo antics by now) don't really produce many maps, and vjeux still posts a fair share of maps on the annoucement boards rather often. There is very high quality stuff like Sorcerer's Defense and interestingly original stuff like Debate.

I would dare to say that the community's dedication is waht has saved this wrecking ball of custom creation.

By higher food chain I mean the people who actually can do stuff and know how to do quality stuff, not site administration. AKA 0.01% of the community.

Are we talking about you, Iskatu? I mean, you've made more mods, wrote more posts and used more 3d than half of the people, me included, ever did.

Did you not read my post and just glaze down the thread in a half-drunk stupor? Because it seems you've totally missed my first post.
