Custom maps - Blizzard increases limits
http://eu.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/601971
In short - 10 slots, 50MB total limit, dunno about single map (most likely still 10).
GJ blizz, now just scrap this system all together and we'll be happy (kinda) ^_^

Not enough. Until limits are 1GB total, me and Blizz modding won't even talk.

No mention of it on the US battle net site. Weird.

Re: Custom maps - Blizzard increases limits
Ideally it'd be, IMO: no limits whatsoever.
But as long as we're talking limits, 100 MB/map and 1 GB total limit would suffice for a while.
100MB/map might look huge but considering how one could make an entire voiced campaign take place in one map, featuring lots of custom music, textures, scripts and models, it doesn't seem that far-fetched.
Now give us proper campaign support and the ability to play custom games in single player and we'll start talking.

Re: Custom maps - Blizzard increases limits
Blizzard needs to do more than just increase map size and give us more slots in order to make custom map making better. Their censor system is complete bullshit, and it prohibits map makers from fully expressing themselves.

They need to quit forcing us to use the publish system.

Wonder when they will notice that their own asset data is over 7GB's and thus how laughable this limit still is in a game that uses 4+ textures for everything.

Re: Custom maps - Blizzard increases limits
Seems US is already affected since I just logged in and my limits are now 10 maps/mods and 50 MB total.
However the map limit of 10 MB per map is still there but at least it should be reasonably possible to use the extra space with mods if you really need more than 10 MB under those conditions.
To be honest, I am a bit surprised that they did increase it to anything half-reasonable that soon. I expected they would only do it in 3-4 months post-release as the soonest if it wasn't via the first expansion.
What still scares me in the whole thing is the censoring/banning issues. I honestly don't want to lose my publishing "privileges" just because some people managed to twist a case against a public map of mine ... especially without any real chance to change things before it's too late.

50mb size != able to host a mod or campaign on bnet
It's not anywhere near close enough. We need a limit closer to... no limit at all. Period.
Or bring back local hosting.
Idiots.

Unfortunately, that's still a very low size for those. Although, I fear they are probably not that concerned with those right now.IskatuMesk wrote:50mb size != able to host a mod or campaign on bnet

Yeah they still need to go through the Public Beta to see if the servers can handle the small amount of mappers using 50MB of storage.

No one said anything about mods or campaigns in relations to upload limits..IskatuMesk wrote:50mb size != able to host a mod or campaign on bnet

In short:
This is obviously a step in the right direction.
But it's not even in the ballpark of "enough."

Re: Custom maps - Blizzard increases limits
Blizz have pretty much murdered the custom content thing. Starcraft 2 is month old now. Starcraft 1 had TAC 1 by this time.
