When I select and highlight text with the mouse it's incredibly hard to see what I've highlighted as the usual highlight color, blue, is about the same color used for the background for the text box.

Maybe a lighter shade of blue could be used instead?

This is highly dependent on browsers, my highlight is grey. What browser are you using so I can look into it?

I should have checked it with another browser... Sorry.


It shows up at blue with Google Chrome.

I switched up and wrote this post in Firefox, which does use a nice light gray/white for the highlight which is much easier to use.

Oh, yeah, that's another great feature the new forum has. NO PIE!

On a side note, can we have a default list of .gif StarCraft avatars? I would enjoy having an animated Urun portrait to use on the forum.

Login at the bottom of the index page had white text on a white background.

Smilies look slick, but for the love of an aardvark, I can barely see the faces. In a list, it's easier for the eye to pick out the differences, but a smilie alone might as well be a blue blob. With hardly any contrast, at its size it's just too faint.

I would say keep the annpoying features around for a couple of months. If people still remember what did piss them off, then change them.

I propose an option to choose one or the other. That way everybody can have avatars on the left, and people like Alevice can continue to act like their opinion means more than everyone else's because he doesn't mind having avatars on the right. A round of applause for our man of the hour!

I think for giggles, we should randomize the placement. Sometimes it's on the right. Sometimes it's on the left. And sometimes it's right there in the middle. In those instances, paragraphs would be conveniently split in half, like a newspaper! Every sentence would be a treat to read, as there's just no getting enough of someone's avatar!

For the love of god put avatar/name/info on the left and not the right, people read from left to right so this just makes things mad annoying. Threads seem a bit more jumbled then the old forum, you may need to space things out a bit more. Aesthetically the forums look great.

In all seriousness, I was bugged by the right-alignment as well, but that's just our sense of familiarity being shaken. When you get past the initial discomfort, there is rhyme to the reason.

You're right, though, we do read left to right. What's my post count? How about my registration date? ...you did start reading every one of my posts from the very left, right? After reading hundreds of my posts, that info should be ingrained in your damn memory!

I find the author is something I tend to pick up in my peripheral vision based on the avatar, with a quick glance to verify. Otherwise, my eyes glaze right past that big empty column of semi-meaningless data. When the avatars are on the left, we actually have to start reading from a skewed left-ish middle that we've trained our eye to.

Somehow, I've found being able to start with the message first without the filler actually has a nice flow to it. New, different, and something I'd need time to get used to, but not terrible. I can live with it. It just feels... right.

Is there any way the yahoo/google bots can be filtered out from the users online? Even though they're color coded, it's annoying to see them cluttering up the list.
