Firegraft and 1.161
So is Firegraft ever going to be updated to 1.161 compatibility? Is there a comparable utility to use in its place for 1.161? Or will we just have to downgrade to 1.151 if we want to keep using it?

So then, if I understand this one's purpose correctly, it modified some of the offsets so that Firegraft was "unofficially" compatible with 1.16.1? The offsets don't appear to all be modified correctly so far, judging from the conversation in that thread...

afaik the one for 1.161 does not have functional exe edits.

Re: Firegraft and 1.161
I've used a few of the edits, and so has bajadulce, in PEAI which is for 1.16.1. The rally edit, which was just discovered yesterday, hasn't been fixed in the uploaded one just yet. If you really need that one, I'm sure you could ask nicely, or ,if you've got any sort of hacking talents, the fix for it is posted right in the thread.

Re: Firegraft and 1.161
All of the exe edits that are listed @ that link were ones I found as needed for Planar Erratus. If the mod needed one, I'd find it and update our hosted FGaft. Basically the 1.16.1FGraft w/ exe edits that is floating around IS PEAI's .fgd file. I've added a few new ones since the last update, but haven't gotten around to updating the list yet as Myk says.
Am also working on a small scale "Sci-Fi" version of PEAI to include w/ the mod. This will also be a high tech AI.
I wrote a small tutorial describing how to find these using olydbg and it's pretty much child's play if you need one. Mauron was also confirming exe edits simultaneously, but then disappeared. His rally point exe edit is the only "new" edit and was recently updated for 1.16.1. (The FGraft floating around has the 1.15.1 offset and will crash if you try to enable it)
Also, DoA WAS in fact working on a newer Fgraft all together and believe he was working w/ some others such as hercanic to help test/suggest ideas.
Anywho.. ppl sort of made fun of me for pushing 1.16.1 mods, but now I think it's obvious why I did.
* Current Bnet and could possibly be the final SCBW patch (at least for a long time until a new OS deems it necessary for a new one).
* Works with current NO-cd "broodwar.mpq" setup
* Downgrading for e-installers causes problems.
* text messages saved to replays!
If you need one just drop me a line and I'll try to post it asap.

To my knowledge, DoA went on with his life. I haven't seen him anywhere in years.

I love how going on with your life involves leaving starcraft behind...DoA went on with his life
Oh well, I suppose it's a lost cause to cry about it now.

Do you need an official version to feel good about yourself? Is there an exe edit missing that you can't bring yourself to find or ask for to complete your mod? Do you need DoA to hold your hand?
So far, you haven't really given anything to us to help you with besides some very vague questions.
Maybe that's just your style and it gets you all the girls. Or maybe you don't know what you want, and your wear a funny hat with pink sparklers taped to the top with icons of sin attached to the ends.

Re: Firegraft and 1.161
Well I'm not capable of making the edits myself. So I was wondering if there was another version that worked with 1.16.1. Since there isn't I'm indicating my disappointment and moving on. That's about it.

Re: Firegraft and 1.161
@ DoA leaving modding, but not SCraft.
I think this might be the other way around. Many have stopped playing SCraft long before they stopped modding. Personally, I bet DoA must feel a little disappointed at how little actually was produced with his program. It's one of the best things to ever happen to modding. It's simple as heck to use, stable, and powerful. And yet it goes unused for the most part.
@ Not being able to find a 1.16.1 version w/ exe edits:
Right there in the link in 2nd post as well as floating around other sites.
http://www.broodwarai.com/index.php?pag ... #firegraft is where it originates.
All the generic exe edits have been converted and will most likely be all you'll ever need. Any obscure one you need, try the ollydbg guide or just ask. I'm not going to just find them all just for the fun of it. Not quite that bored.... yet.
@ Plugins for 1.16.1
Plugins are powerful and offer all sorts of new opportunities. Unfortunately, most of what AofST did w/ his TemplateProject, is geared towards 1.15.1. And even then, as with FGraft, very little has actually been produced. Ojan used to say "ASM is just another way of saying it's impossible to do". In theory it isn't, but it might as well be. Same applies to plugins. Once you've found the data, the battle is over and everything is cake. Finding what you need however is another story.
Regardless, there's no need for a plugin to do what a simple exe edit can do. Just like there's no need to use EUD's for something that can be done with a simple trigger.
Gluck and keep modding!
