SCFreeSounds
I just downloaded SCFreeSounds so I could add sound effects to my map without a massive increase in file size.
Once I got the program extracted and told it where my CD drives were I tested to see if it could find sounds from the SC install.exe. I sampled playing a few sounds, which all worked. I then went to trying to add them to my map. I followed the instructions in the help window, to the point where I have to select where to get the sounds from. Once again, I selected SC install.exe, but this time the program gave me and error saying "Run-time error '53' File not found"
I say 'ok' and the app quits. I open it again and try to do what I did at first, just playing sounds with no map loaded. I got the error again.
So now I put the app on a different computer and (without a map loaded) try to play a sound from SC install.exe (yes the CD is in the drive) and it crashes just the same.
Any ideas what I can do to stop this error?

Operating system could help.
Does this program still work in general, to begin with?

Re: SCFreeSounds
Can't you use blank .txt files using the path of the sounds in the map to play sounds? I hear that worked, before. Never tried it though.
Never heard of this program before, though.

Re: SCFreeSounds
WinXP SP2 on both computers.
The program can still be opened, I can still load a map, I just cant access the sounds at all because of the error.
As for blank TXT files I don't know, I suppose I could try that but best case would be getting the error fixed due to the huge number of sounds I will need to add.

Re: SCFreeSounds
If you use SCMdraft you can use the sound editor in it to import all the sounds in starcraft (but not actual campaign dialogue).
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Re: SCFreeSounds
That would work I suppose, but unfortunately I need just about all of the original campaign sounds...

Re: SCFreeSounds
When I extracted my SC Campaigns using WinMPQ I also extarcted all the .wav files. That gave me all the sounds from the campaigns, including dialog.

Re: SCFreeSounds
Open install.exe with WinMPQ and you should see all the .wav files, extract them into the folder you want them in then go to w/e SC editor you use then go to sounds and import, then your folder with the .wavs.

He said in his FIRST post that he wanted to avoid doing that because of map size.

That's because you don't have a file list, I believe.Marine 382BB wrote: Besides when I do that Fatburger I get nothing but the ~~unknown003556~~ stuff.
