Kick-Ass The Movie, Thoughts?
Personally, thought it was amazing. Especially during the scene with the teddy bear camera.

Is this some kind of subtle cover-up for another betakey competition?

Hadn't seen this one. Is there a brief summary of what it's about asides from the title?

Better.
Kick Ass - Official Trailer [HD]
I really need to fix the screen width issue.
EDIT: Also, just so you know, it's not a comedy or meant for kids it's literally a mature movie.

Re: Kick-Ass The Movie, Thoughts?
I agree Lavarinth. I only went to see it because I have to get rid of christmas/birthday gift certificates that are building up and it was the only thing at the theatre, but was glad I saw it. I went in expecting a more kid friendly movie and to be somewhat bored, but I quite enjoyed it, it actually kept my attention better then Clash of the Titans.

Yeah, I really liked it, especially Big Daddy/Cage
I just love his semi-sane role.
Also, the scene where Kick-ass tries to stop the two guys from stealing a car had me laughing for like 10 minutes
Cheers;

Re: Kick-Ass The Movie, Thoughts?
Though the track is from 28 Days Later, I believe the teddy bear scene was by far the most captivating in the movie, I've never actually reacting in person at a theater like covering my mouth in shock or something like that, but in this situation I actually put my hand on my head in an "oh no!" style as they finally got to see what Big Daddy looks like, plus then it turned to "he's owning everyone!"

Heh, people just talking about "The Teddy Bear Scene" is great viral marketing in its own right - you really won't understand what it means until you actually see the movie.
(And viewers were confused too when someone picked up the Teddy)
I really enjoyed Kick-ass. With most movies in the last two years (The likes of Star Trek, Wolverine, Clash of the Titans, etc), I know what to expect when I go into the cinema so I'm rarely left feeling outraged (aside maybe the stupid ending of Daybreakers). I was the same with Kick-Ass but it exceeded my expectations for certain. It had that feeling of a comic book that's attempting to be somewhat serious in the same distant sense as Watchmen or The Dark Knight. The actor who played Kick-Ass was great, Cage was awesome (probably because his screen time was kept in moderation), as was Hitgirl, of course, while there were plenty of laughs amongst the deadly serious parts.
In retrospect, someone pointed out that the last half of the movie became the very thing it was addressing and satirising, which I think is arguable yet it's something to consider, but, hey, it didn't stop it from being an enjoyable movie.

Re: Kick-Ass The Movie, Thoughts?
I think that was on purpose, which is what twisted it from a "comedy" to a serious situation. I enjoyed the fact the comedy aspect of it wasn't the fact they were telling jokes, but rather just real life circumstances as he narrated. Though, wasn't a big fan of breaking the fourth wall in the statement about comic book survival so strongly.

DESCRIBE IT IN WORDS
/e
ok fine I watched the trailer and I still don't really understand what it's about other than another movie trying to jump on the super hero bandwagon
I guess I'll add it to my... um... to-do list and get back to you in a few months with a one-liner reply.

Re: Kick-Ass The Movie, Thoughts?
The plot is about a boy who questions to his friends as to why no one's ever tried to be a superhero. Sure, they don't have superpowers or millions of dollars to throw away, but it's not about that. It's about fighting crime, doing justice. So he sets himself on the path to become a superhero. Then as he's fighting crime, or attempting to really, he ties the story together of the supporting cast by messing with the wrong guy. It's a small bit of everything, really. Comedy, drama, action, teenage romance, and the music really helps give the feel you're watching superheroes over just regular people, which is exactly what they're trying to be.
