It's a common glitch with SMF where the subforums will continue to make the main forum display a new post. Sometimes visited these subforums, and the topics themselves doesn't even clear the new status. Try marking all as read at the bottom to fix the issue.

What he meant to say was: "I do not like that, it annoys me"

That said, recent SMF mods allow you to change the behaviour. Though once you transition to a new forum you probably don't have this issue anymore regardless.
