You have to understand "modding" is now a simple copy and paste of text due to XML.

With the lack of an editor anyways.

EDIT: The game will flat out crash if the data is different between players.

Also, really? A race mod? Seems ridiculous as this is likely the more difficult way of producing a mod over the modding tools.

Although as mentioned in this next podcast- The modding tools wont be released with retail.

EDIT: Correction, not ridiculous, just unnecessary, fun results I'm sure, but I wouldn't risk beta for it, personally.

C syntax shouldn't really be that hard to pick up for someone already familiar with programming/scripting, which requests for Lua support implies. You'll probably hate semicolons at first though :P

(I'm actually glad it's based on C since I mostly do stuff in PHP & JavaScript these days, and a bit of C# (lol) at university, so can keep up the fun with semicolons and braces etc)
