Re: Problem with the Zerg console

For the record: I've just found out, that the advisor sound in the BW Terran campaign also is hardcoded or whatever. Let me explain: I have set the player on Terran, even though he control Zerg units and buildings in each scenario. So you hear the advisor, in that case the Overmind, with every proper sound message like "Not enough minerals" or "Not enough energy" (or whatever he say in the english speaking game). Except for two messages: "Your force are under attack" and "Not enough vespene gas". These two came from the Terran cyberbabe, you know the sweetheart. Only these two. Why? I have no idea. Though I can exchange that, too, it is still very strange.

bajadulce...
As I said above, please check your private message box.  :)

lol I didn't even know we had PM boxes as I never saw the usual "YOU HAVE A NEW PM ASSWIPE!" blaring me in the face when I log on. :)

As for your sound issues open SFXdata.dat and change the desired terran sounds to their Zerg counterpart.  I would highly suggest poiuy's PyDat as it has a .wav preview feature!  very cool.

So, after downloading Photoshop Elements, I modified the classic Zerg console like bajadulce has hinted in this thread before.
"SHAAAAVIIIIIIIING!" :D
If you wanna check the result, feel free to click on the spoiler button. I'm definitely no expert in working with Photoshop, from which I thought to this point it costs much more than I really needed. Or in other words, that there is a version existing for normal people...
Spoiler
bajadulce, if you read this...
I need still the both Protoss score icons, for defeat and victory.
And please check if you can change the menu and the map buttons from Zerg and Terran, too.
The Zerg have a darker menu and map button, the Terran ones are more brighter...

Again, I would like to thank everyone who have answered and tried to help at this adventure here...

that console looks pretty sharp and retains its Zerg qualities.  Maybe that little "hook" on the left side could be shaved a bit or maybe borrow some other part of the zerg console to paste there.

The Zerg - Terran swap for the menu and map icons in the console are actually contained in "dlgs\T,P,Zerg.grp" not icons.grp.  Icons.grp contain the little pics at the top of your screen like minerals, gas, and supply.

The .bmps you are interested in are in dlgs\ and use the same palette unlike icons.grp.  So you can just copy terran.grp, rename it zerg.grp and then archive it as "dlgs\zerg.grp" and the swap is complete.  No compiling/decompiling is needed.  Also, be sure to pull the file from your patch_rt.mpq as there was an update somewhere.

Awesome, man!
Thank you thousand tons., bajadulce.

Your name was added to the credits, just like Lavarinth and CC.org, of course.  :)
