Re: What's going on with samods?
I just got an incoherent message followed by a link to samods from a buddy on MSN who never visits samods. I didn't click it but I'm guessing something is going foul again.

That's been there for the past 8 weeks. Magic just didn't take it down.

Just tried to access the forum and got told by Chrome to close and my virus detection made me drop the connection...

What I'd like to know is how the hell this keeps happening, and whether we're at all vulnerable to a similar attack.

If this isn't resolved, it sounds like this attack is going to ultimately kill samods.
I have seen the Desler. I have tasted of his milk and honey.

Works fine for me. No secret acrobat reader or anything.

I believe it's an issue with Dreahost and simple passwords being hacked in by a bruteforce hacker. But, needless to say my attempts to state this to Dreamhost has been left with silence and "aint our problem." Most I can suggest is stronger passwords.

Re: What's going on with samods?
Okay, well after running full virus scans all night it appears nothing is on my system (or so it appears, but I might do a few more scans using rootkit checks).
Basically I went onto the site, went into the forum and tried to log in. Immediately Avast popped up and told me it was detecting an attempted connection of some kind, as was Chrome so I aborted that and closed Chrome.
I then noticed I seemed to have gained more Svchost.exe's. So I ran Process Explorer and stopped two that looks far to large. I then reset and they had disappeared.
Anyway, my view is that there is something seriously fuxed. And I will not go to samods unless I duel boot.

There's nothing there. You just most likely came across the 90 Day old browsing warning.
