In windows 7, if starcraft or age of empires 2 get funky colors when you play them, just run the screen resolution dialog and alt tab back in.

Presto, perfect colors.

Another solution is killing explorer.exe before running SC and restarting it once you're done playing. Kind of inconvenient though.

I always had this problem with vista and used the same solution.

It's happened maybe once every few months even with XP, so it's probably just something between older 256-color games and how the post Windows 9x OSes deal with them.  Still, it beats seeing a blue screen every 2 days because you Stimpacked your Marine.

Really only ran into it if something tried to minimize it from the background a long time ago, I can't remember it happening again since I started using XP and now Vista.
