Problem with third mission of lotc.

Post by kkoliver »

First of all, I read every post I could find relating to my question and could not find a solution.

My problem is that the third mission of the legacy of the confederation campaign does not work properly with my current setup. When the mutalisks attack, the mission turrents and wraiths I have aim but rarely fire at the mutalisks. The wraiths will even chase the mutalisks around and just stare at them. Also, the turrets stop spinning and point at the mutalisks like they are gonna attack but don't. The first two missions seemed to work correctly but then again I've never seen for sure what they were supposed to look like. There were voice acting clips and custom music but no other things like modified splash screens or units beyond what the normal campaign editor can do.

I have BWAIDowngrader and I'm downgrading to v1.10 but I've tried to mission with v1.07, v1.14 and v1.15 without success. I'm running the release candidate of windows 7 and starcraft was installed from the cd but does not require the cd to be played. Both the lotc.exe and starcraft.exe are running with admin privileges and without compatibility mode.  I also changed the colors on starcraft to 256 to eliminate the color problems the game has. If there is any other relevant information I didn't supply then just point it out.

Thank you very much for the help! I'm looking forward to progressing in this amazing campaign!

There is nothing wrong with your computer or your current StarCraft setup.  The number of units the player commands in that mission is much more than would normally be allowed in a typical StarCraft mission.  With that much going on, it is normal that some of the units would act a little slow.  The mission should play out fine, though.

That's a sprite limitation well known in StarCraft. It's not an issue, it's actually the game maxing out on the amount of projectiles it can produce due to the large amount of units on screen. When am absurd amount of units are on screen, StarCraft will, instead of not creating unit sprites, not create projectile sprites. Rest assured so long as you are running the custom EXE and installed from the CD, I believe you should be fine.

I went and played the mission while trying to ignore the fact that most of my units weren't actually firing and it worked out just like you two said it would! Thank you very much!
