Proof? I've walked through the development team's office.

How big is their development team?
Bigger than 40 people, apparently.  And that's not even the point.  I only want Blizzard to produce the best they can possibly produce, but my complaint is about their announcements.  Why, for the love of god, announce the game if you're not gonna be able to finish it within 2,5 years after the announcement?  Maybe they didn't know it would take this long, and in that case, my complaint is about poor management and planning.

Even if Blizz's dev team was around 40 people, that's their problem.  Even if Battle.net is the major drawback, it's their problem.  I appreciate they want to keep the community updated, but seriously, who cares what's holding them back?  It could be anything.  What matters is we won't be seeing the game anytime soon.  They shouldn't have announced and hyped the game, imo, because what they got was people expecting a game.  Don't get me wrong, I am not whining about their production time, I'm whining about them making it look like the game was on verge of being completed for at least a year.

Truth be told, I want them to take as long as they need to finish Sc2.  And when it's released, I'll sure as hell go back to gaming on the PC and leave my PS3 alone. :D

I'm not going to complain about the delay. I'm sick and tired of EA rushing their games, at least blizzard has a commitment to quality.

Same here. I hate it when people go "What? Starcraft II isn't released yet?!" it's as if any of the fast released games were any good. Actually the last game that was made this year that i consider good is Trine.

I hear you, man.  But still, I think people are entitled to _some_ outrage when you consider that...

May 18, 2007: We've been working on STARCRAFT 2 you gamenerds! That's right... Your 10-year old game is getting a sequel!

becomes

August 2009: Sorry gamenerds, but, you know, Battlenet is really being a bitch... You won't be seeing Starcraft 2 before 2010. Sorry!

You say other companies rush games, I say I'm happy there's companies actually releasing material you can play on a regular basis.  Blizzard is very good at releasing silly add-ons, but not so good at releasing extremely cool games.

Edit:

Frankly, I might just be a little frustrated because all I've seen from Blizz in the last decade is production on stupid Warcraft and now they've actually announced getting back to work on my favorite Blizz titles (SC and Diablo), they're taking ages to finish them!!!!!!!!!! :D

Look at it this way, once the new battle.net is fully up and running everything else will take less time.

A revolution takes time. . . maybe they had to announce Starcraft II and Diablo III for their stockholders. Otherwise it would've been a long time until any announcements would be made -- other than the usual WoW updates. I guess I have it easy since I'm not too gung-ho about games, but once Starcraft II releases that will all change.

And yet since you've been there, you probably also know not all of them are working on Starcraft 2.

The hype is frustrating.  Blizzard has kept a pretty good track record that when they set up for beta, the game is going to be shipped soon.  This is the first time where beta keys have been set up, but then an announcement comes saying the game won't be out for at least another year.  I guess it's upsetting because we've never had this kind of disappointment from Blizzard's developers before.

Especially since they say the only thing holding the game back is Battle.net when really the campaign and custom games are what I'll be playing the most first. :P

I don't even know what a Battlenet is!  I'd be perfectly fine with a disc that hasn't got one on it.  Can that be arranged, Blizzard? :P

Report 4 was the last scheduled report due to the release date, however, now there may be more. report 4 was ALSO recorded some months ago unless they opted to use the latest build again.

It takes them longer to localize it than to record one.
