How many retard bad guys in WoW call their boss "the Master" now? I mean, seriously... the dialogue in WoW just gets worse the further it gets from Warcraft 3.
I agree and disagree. WC's dialogue gets pretty repetitive and alot of the characters are carbon copies of others, but SC has unique characters and good dialogue (imo). I'd say the SC storyline is also one of the better video game stories out there (also imo). The WC universe just seems far too open to the point that anything can be thrown in and it makes sense in some way.

True, but he does help write the scripts for SC, WC, and Diablo. I think WoW has sort of gotten out of hand for him.

Maybe so, but he still fucked up the Burning Crusade storyline (putting Kil'jaeden in it clearly wasn't part of their original plan), and he's well poised to fuck up the Wrath of the Lich King storyline, too, if the Argent Tournament was part of his big plan (nothing like having a Renaissance Faire right after something like Ulduar, huh). Storywise the Tournament has a purpose, but it doesn't do so in any compelling way.

Much like how I didn't find King Wrynn's story very compelling, either. Clearly Metzen hit some kind of spark with Thrall, but Varian Wrynn just isn't nearly as good a character-- it seems as if he wanted to catch lightning in a bottle twice and only partially succeeded (with some people convincing themselves that Varian Wrynn is actually a decent character and not a rehash of Grand Admiral Proudmoore done under the emo teenager flavor).

So when I hear Metzen is involved I hesitate to believe this could turn out to be a good thing. The old Metzen was more fundamental and uncorrupted by money; the new one struggles to please the bottom line.

On a slightly different note, but still related to the topic. Went to see Drag Me To Hell last night. Which is Sam Raimi's latest horror effort (and horror it is). It is quite scary, it has a huge gross out factor and it applies all the cliche's of 80s horror movies.

Yet this same guy directed the Spiderman movies. It's just so strange to see him direct Drag Me To Hell and then wham Warcraft. Though Peter Jackson was a splatter movie maker first as well.

Regardless, his camera angles, editing, etc. was top notch.

I, too just saw Drag Me to Hell.  It was a good horror film.  Raimi is definitely at the top of his game with his latest work.  If he can avoid the travesty that was Spiderman 3, the film could be decent provided the screenplay can translate from a game format to a movie.  As we all know, games rarely translate well into cinema.  We may enjoy playing the games and be involved with the story on an interactive level; however, can that same story be told in 2 hours of entertaining observation?
I have seen the Desler.  I have tasted of his milk and honey.
