Scmdraft issues

Hey,

I've got a question. For a few days, I've been experiencing a really annoying problem. I'm making a map in Scmdraft. All is well. Then I want to add voiced transmissions. I insert the transmissions, you know, use the wave file, subtract 0 miliseconds and enter the text. Then when I play it, all the transmissions play at the SAME time. Also happens in briefings. The TRANSMISSION trigger seems to be malfunctional in both sections. I could still try and do it like, PLAY WAV, DISPLAY SPEAKING PORTRAIT, DISPLAY TEXT, WAIT ??? MILISECONDS but I thought the transmission trigger was there to make things easier. :-/

Can anybody help me?

Edit:

This never happened to me in StarEdit, so I'm thinking it's Scmdraft fucking the transmissions up.

I think you need to set the milliseconds under the command 'Set to' and then whatever length the file is.  Otherwise, if they're 0 milliseconds, they just play all at once since it's the length of the sound file that dictates the wait
You haven't lived until you've edited 5,000 recorded .mp3's of dialogue!

Yeah, I thought that was the problem. But I've looked at other maps. Auspex for one didn't do that, and his transmissions don't play all at once.

I would advice to each of you simply NOT to use SCM Draft.
From all editors is this one the buggiest, so don't stress your nerves and waste your time...

Simply use the good old StarEdit or Xtra-Editor (base mode), for the import of the wave files...

I could never get X-Tra to work. Wonder if it's a problem with 64-bit Vista.

I can't get Xtra to work either.  StarEdit's still my editor of choice, though I do love the zoom function in Scmdraft.  Apart from that, though, Scmdraft is sucky.  I hate the way you place units, especially start locations.  And it's also weird that it's got restrictions on building placement, but not on doodads.  So unless you feel like scouring every stretch of land on your map for misplaced doodads, you're going to have to deal with annoying error messages whenever you open the map in StarEdit.

Under Options: Units: "Place buildings anywhere", check or uncheck the box to allow illegal placement of buildings

If you want to make sure doodads are not placed illegally, go to Options: Doodads: and uncheck the box "allow illegal placement"

For transmissions, you need to use wait timers between transmissions.  This is a rather bizzarre difference from staredit that I don't the know the cause of.
As much as I dislike my lack of knowledge of these things on display like this, thank you very much!

So the transmission trigger in Scmdraft is useless? I always thought that the only reason ANYBODY would use that trigger is because of its ability to keep both the sound playing and the dialogue on screen for the duration of the wav, allowing no other transmission to interrupt. Clearly, this isn't true, otherwise the function I'm describing wouldn't have been programmed out of the trigger.

It's not a wait timer in StarEdit either, although it confused me at first, because it does act as a timer in briefings.

I dunno. All I know is that in StarEdit it just plays transmission in order and keeps to the length of the wav.
