For me? Engaging story and awesome audio. But those are my passions, I am sure most people will like their passion the most. :)

Oh also cutscenes btw! :)

And I find some build and destroy fun once in a while. Original gameplay is always fun though.

I prefer build and destroyer over everything else. I hate how people constantly try to force minigames into a genre that doesn't need them. The game should challenge players in the element it was designed to be used in; real-time strategy. I don't mind the odd RPG if it's done right, but they typically aren't and it becomes very repeditive and boring. Ultimately it's up to your discretion, but I don't play campaigns much because of that.

People only find B&D boring because of poor mapping quality and the fact that that mappers tend to force themselves to certain design elements; ie, there is very few if any teamplay maps out there. The only one I can think of is the final mission of the Mekani campaign that RCX made.

Make a campaign that YOU think is fun. If everyone else hates it, fuck 'em. You're not getting paid, so you have no obligation to anyone but yourself.

Most people I know consider FK too difficult, if that's any indication. FK was intended to be micro heavy, as are most campaigns these days as people often try to stay far away from B&D elements. It's a gametype that became very stale very fast because of the lack of intuitive design and creativity. So, most people shun it now because there is very few if any really good examples.

For example, if it's going to be a big map, you have to justify it being big. Plenty of players, plenty of sub-objectives, stuff like that. I don't like 1v1 scenarios, I prefer teamplay or FFA, if that helps any. Consider the conflicts in your story and try to find an interesting crossroads to use as a foundation for such a mission. That's what I did.

Also, the default computer AI is really too easy, and B&D needs to remain challenging throughout the mission to really give you the same sense of accomplishment. Overdependance on scripted events makes B&D too mechanical and often predictable, and that also hurts it.

Yeah, that's the idea. In my plans for the Sarenubus Campaign, the only 1v1 scenario was the very end duel.

A lot of B&D support here. My old campaigns took some flak for their focus on it (not that they were great B&D anyway), so I'm glad to see the community - or at least audible parts of it - coming around again. It's always been my favorite gameplay type in StarCraft.
