In my opinion, cinematics are usually out of place. They look nothing like the actual game. I can understand why companies put them in their products, but third-party developers should probably focus on gameplay / sound / ingame graphics if they want to do something extra. Creating cinematics is A LOT of work, I imagine, and all you'll ever get is "Wow that looks great, can't wait to PLAY it!"Saint_Kerrigan wrote: I've never made a Blizzard-esque cinematic before, nor have I acquired the skills to do so. Thus, for those of you with that kind of experience, how much time does it typically take to do, for example, a 30-sec cinematic?
Also, if you want to simply edit a preexisting cinematic, how much work/time is involved with that?
I would be much obliged for answers!

Re: Custom Cinematic Questions
Eh. I'd create a CGI intro to Armageddon Onslaught simply for the fact I could convey the scale a lot better than you can ingame. For example, if Battlecruisers are 2.7km in length, then an Onslaught Juggernaut would dwarf them considerably. That's something you can't really convey ingame.
I like CGI, but only if it's well done. Otherwise you're best sticking to ingame stuff.

Ok, true. Then again, that's always been fucked up Starcraft as well. How many marines could really fit in the barracks we see? 15/20 tops? And what of the size of those datadiscs man!IskatuMesk wrote: Eh. I'd create a CGI intro to Armageddon Onslaught simply for the fact I could convey the scale a lot better than you can ingame. The datadiscs are from the 70's.
