Adding Missions To The Main Campaigns

Post by RyanFialcowitz »

I've come across two unused terran missions and tutorials for the zerg and protoss. What I'd like to do is add these to the main campaign so I don't have to play them through the custom game menu. I've read the tutorials on this site but am still having problems. The new missions are all in scm format whilst the ones in the mpq are all chk- adding the scms back into the mpq and redordering the folders to account for the new missions doesn't work. Adding the scms into different folders and altering the chks to point to the new missions doesn't work.

Any ideas?

Well I can't say exactly, but try looking at some of the campaigns that change them and see how they do it?

Ryan, I don't believe you can actually add to the main list of maps in the Episodes, I think you can only edit them to your liking, such as hiding some or adjusting the link order. This is to my knowledge, I may be wrong. I also believe those SCMs must be altered to represent themselves as CHK as well, which is, again to my knowledge, only a filename change, nothing else.

I wouldn't even go there. You can only replace maps (they're all scenario.chk and allocated by some parent folder or something). Fall From Grace tried to make it look like it replaced them, but you could just click on the locations of the original missions and play them (except the replaced ones). Sorry, that's a confusing sentence but those who've seen it will understand. :D

It's hard coded. It's not impossible, but nowhere near worth the effort I'd say.

In Fallen Angel you can't see the other two campaigns, how did they achieve that?

I don't remember that. You can probably still click them if the SMK animations were overwritten by empty ones. Other than that, if people can do it that easily, it's not rocket science.

That's a simple BIN edit modification to hide the SMKs and the relative text.
