Kerrigan's voice in that trailer is, actually, Glynnis' voice. Of course, it was before she announced that she wouldn't be reprising her role of Kerrigan in SC2.

And I don't think that it was the Queen talking. Mostly because the Queen has a very different voice (as we saw in the "12 Days of StarCraft" map released by Blizzard). No, that voice sounds more like human.

Do you have proof it's her voice?

-Out of the question stated above- I wish there would be maps that will have the old heroes ghosts. And put Old heroes and old units in Campaign editor (Not Produced though)

Yes.

I'm quoting a post from Blizzforums. This is the home page
Blizzforums wrote:There's a lot of talk about voice acting, and I wanted to put up an example here, and shed some light on things for Kerrigan's end, and discuss the presence of the new and old voice actors for a little bit and how they effect the game. The Zerg Reveal trailer was done using a stand-in voice actor, whereas the newest two videos from Blizzcon 2008 featuring Kerrigan's voice - both Infested & Ghost - were re-recorded by Glynnis Talken a couple months ago (a fact that she was kind enough to clarify for me).

Stand-In VA

Real VA (Glynnis Talken)

Kerrigan, Mengsk, & (SC2's) Raynor VA

SC2 Raynor's VA

SC:BW Raynor (Robert Clotworthy)
Jim & Kerrigan (MP3)
Raynor Regrets (MP3)

The biggest thing here is nostaliga and familiarity. It's not that the Stand-In does a particularly bad job of voicing an Infested Kerrigan, it's that it comes off like someone doing an impression with a little bit of interpritation of the role. That compounded with the fact that voice acting is something that's nearly impossible to duplicate, and when you do - it almost always sounds like someone trying to do an impression because it lacks the soul of someone doing their own interpritation of the character because of the previously established continuity. Finally hearing the newer trailers, and comparing it to the Zerg Reveal voice makes it obvious that we again have the Kerrigan that, as fans, we've been hearing and relating to for the last 10 years. Her art direction was pushed forward to something more appropriate than the old BroodWar look of a green girl in spandex, and she looks exactly the way you'd expect a Terran-Zerg hybrid to be. The fact that the character's evolved with the up and coming new graphics and technology is fantastic as long as there's something that we can anchor it to - in this case, Glynnis's superb voice acting.

With StarCraft all you really had to tie everything in to the most of the characters were a tiny pixelated sprite, and the unit portrait. Over the 10 years that StarCraft's been around and all the times it's been played through, stellar or not, the character's voices is something that we've become attached to, and familiar with backwards and forwards. That's why in the animatic of the events of leaving Kerrigan behind on Tarsonis, there's almost no difference between it and the original voices that we know from StarCraft - with the glaring exception of Raynor. Wether you like his voice actor or not, it's VERY difficult to get adjusted and attached to his portrayl of Raynor covering over the performances that we remember. It feels like a retcon that's there with no real reason, and I think that's why it's getting a lot of negative reaction from the fans. It's not that it's necessairly that he's doing a bad job, it's that there's not the one thing that really ties the characters together for us, and I know I've said it already, but having known that voice for 10 years, going back to the world of StarCraft with something different is hard. ESPECIALLY hearing all the other performances and how they still match what we remember makes it feel even more out of place.

This seems like it could become especially difficult specifically because of the dynamics between Kerrigan & Raynor that are taking place in SC2 - we want them to match the emotion and familiarity of what we remember. Hearing Kerrigan's voice laughing and creeping its way out of the darkness sent chills down my spine. It brings back all the old memories of when she was being abandoned to the Zerg, and how it changed her, and her getting revenge after becoming Infested. In the animatic, Mengsk's voice brings back all the hatred you felt when he left Kerrigan behind to the Zerg, and his actions and double-crossing. Raynor's voice just makes me think of the tiny clips of Raynor that we've seen from the single player in SC2. There's no connection to the old one, even with it replacing Robert Clotworthy's lines.

All in all, especially with the StarCraft storyline being opened up across 3 games, I don't think that hearing Raynor's old voice could possibly hurt the game in any way. I'm not sure what's compelled them to go so strongly with a new voice actor, (and it's almost certainly not an issue of funding). The return of the original members of the voice cast is something that's been a HUGE positive to everyone who's heard them so far, and for that at least I'm grateful. I think that every returning VA is a big step in the right direction, and adds a little piece of what we all treasure from the original. Hopefully this info was useful (mostly the bit about Kerrigan's voice acting so far).

Nice quote.

Still, I don't think the "Stand-In" would be the final, especially with those effects. They're simply not Kerrigan enough. It's one thing to adjust her voice to someone else, another to modify the flanges applied to her voice extremely. It simply sounds so.. Amature.

Blizzard's voice acting and sound editing have been steadily going downhill since d2.

The Frozen thrones voice acting didn't impress me at all, Blizzard needs to work like they did with previous games and try to retain people who did the voice acting from before, an easier way would have to not waited ten years to make a sequal.

Both actors for Raynor and Kerrigan wanted to reprise their role. Blizzard said no; this isn't a matter of waiting ten years, this is a matter of "WTF is going on in the producer's heads."

Great quote and analysis.  Why would Blizzard say no?  What could possibly be the reason behind it?  It can't be funding.  Do they just really want to piss people off intentionally?

I believe I read somewhere that it wasn't the type of voice they initially wanted for the characters. And this is their "true" portrayal. But I mean, come on, she authors her books under "Sarah McKerrigan."

They're retconning the shit out of SC, may as well retcon voices, too.

The SC2 Raynor, from what I heard, still sounds true to the spirit of who the Raynor character is supposed to be.  It isn't like they are replacing these people with bad actors.  Most of you just seem opposed to change.  If we had SC2 Raynor first, then SC1 Raynor now, I think most people would be complaining that he sounds too goofy or too carefree.

Raynor is one of the few good voices in sc2. Virtually all of the unit responses I've heard so far are utterly horrible.

It's just your childhood (or teenage, or whatever) memories being trampled on.  I just look at it as the series growing up.  New voices, fine.  It's 10 years since we've seen the last one though, so I'm not going to complain.  Everyone loves the voice of Optimus Prime, but if he wasn't in the Transformers movie I wouldn't of been any more critical of it.  Things change.

Exactly. Besides, none of them *look* the same, might as well make them sound different.

I just hope they keep Artanis.
