Simple mechanics, but creative and fun emergent gameplay. Top-down perspective in a non-moving arena-like landscape, equipped with a massive sword in league with Cloud. Your character follows the mouse, and swings on mouse-click. Kill entire "Goople" nests of different sizes, or see how long you can survive in Bounty Hunter.

Gooples come at you from all sides, and as time wanes on, new Gooples reveal themselves. Each type presents its own challenge and gameplay interaction. One spills acid on its death, which is a hazard for both you and any other Gooples (meaning you can lead some of the tougher ones into it for a kill). Another leaves sticky goo that'll slow you or anything else down that runs through it, and although a seeming disadvantage, when a flaming goople races across the scene, that goo will wet you down and keep you from exploding.

As you learn the behaviors and characteristics of all the various Goople types, you will find the fun and challenge in defeating the various mixes on screen or turning them against one another.

Throughout play, you will earn various awards. Every 10 or so awards grants you a key to unlock a reward. These are items that'll help you survive. I recommend the Impact Armor and Hazard Suit.

I can pretty consistently get down to ~170 left on a big nest, but a large part of my success is determined by the order in which the 2nd tier enemies (sharps, grays, oil guys, big rock guys, fuzzles) show up, as some are vastly easier to deal with than others.
