Re: Fallout 3 - Yay or Nay?
lol Deathclaws.
I've only come across a few of them. The first one I came across was almost dead from fighting something else, so that was convenient. Another one managed to come up behind me, and... well... I didn't last very long.
Just last night, though, I was playing, and I was running across the wasted with... a certain NPC... and I saw him start running off to attack something. So I turned toward it and went into VATS, just as a rocket was shooting right past my face. It turned out to be some kind of robot, and when I zoomed in on it, I noticed that there was a deathclaw right next to it, and I was like "SWEET FANCY MOSES!"
I left it alone, and I let the robot fight the deathclaw. It was putting up a good fight. But when the robot was nearly dead, that certain NPC decided he would attack the deathclaw... unarmed... So I was yelling "WTF ARE YOU DOING YOU DUMBASS!"
Fortunately I was able to kill the Deathclaw in a few hits in VATS, saving his ass.
Basically, what I'm saying is... this game is a lot of fun :3

I'm 11 now, haven't found a death claw, don't really want to from what you say, I'm in Vault 87 right now anyway.

Re: Fallout 3 - Yay or Nay?
Deathclaws always scared the shit out of me. Same with super mutants in the earlier games, although I like how its not LOL SUPERMUTANT WITH A MINIGUN UR SCREWED any more. I'll see how deathclaws are. I really like playing the game as an FPS though, I find it a lot easier to zoom in and shoot dudes or run and gun instead of standing there with VATS, especially since it gives like a 25% chance to hit a giant dude that i can get a sneak critical headshot on in zoomed mode. Although I'm playing it on PC. Keyboard + mouse > controller for any kind of pointing imo.

Re: Fallout 3 - Yay or Nay?
deathclaws pose quite a challenge, mostly the bundle of them randomly spawning/ patroling ..what ever,in a place nuca cola quantom is supposed to be at.
they hit hard, and hard to find out, with, or without V.A.T.S system to take 1 down with any weapon [tried grenades even- hardly a scratch
]
i was lucky to vapourize 1 with a laser pistol, meh,

Ughh,, level 14, right at the end of game, not gonna finish the quest because you can't play after you beat main quest, didn't know if you guys knew that. Going to go out and randomly kill things.

I've learnt to ignore RCcola's posts since he blatantly posts shit about the later game I'm not in without using "don't read this if you're not level ## yet or mid/late-game yet."

What did I say, all I said was don't finish if you want to keep playing on the same file, no spoilers, just a warning, lighten up.

Re: Fallout 3 - Yay or Nay?
Been a pretty good ride so far, currently at Lv 9, just got to Rivet City for the main quests there. Focused on sniper-themed weapons, so I've been using the Hunting Rifle for pretty much the whole game.
Though nothing beats using your FISTS!! Screw the Super Sledge! (laughs)

I think I screwed myself over by not focusing on a specific weapon category and putting points in most all of them, all while getting the perks related to medicine/science or lockpicking/stealth. And for some reason I got the +50 weight perk.. Because at that moment in time I had fight the giant Mutant with the Knights and didn't have room for the Fatman. Hah.

Yeah I've come across a few of the mutant behemoths, they're actually pretty easy.

Re: Fallout 3 - Yay or Nay?
As RCcola mentioned, I have to give a warning about the ending. In general, save your game before you accept to do something (It feels like the endgame sequence, it'll be obvious enough) since you don't resume the game afterwards, unlike FO2 or Oblivion.
Very minor spoiler wise:
Buuut .... the whole game was really fun, Bethesda did really well in their version of FO3, it's just that the main storyline should have had a great deal more attention and length. The side quests and exploration is where the real fun is at. Anyone who has been to Andale knows what I mean. I'm looking forward to doing an evil play through.
Very minor spoiler wise:

The ending is pretty poor. You get a variation on a single choice (3 in total), something happens and the game ends. That's it.
The Enclave are barely explained (Especially to people who never played FO2), there's an ENORMOUS plot hole with Fawkes the super mutant, you never have to deal with the BoS Outcasts, you don't get a run down of all the towns and what happened, etc. In general, there's no real moral ambiguity like the previous games. The closest the game gets is the "Ghouls move in to Tenpenny Tower" scenario. A real shame, but I think the game was rushed to be put out by Christmas. Such is the nature of the industry, alas.

Yeah, I'm considering going trough the game again, I love these types of rpgs where it's different every time, (I think I went through Mass Effect four times). I went evil my first time so this time I'm going to go through being nice.

Re: Fallout 3 - Yay or Nay?
Oblivion's quest structure wasn't too bad but none of them were really that gripping. I would've liked to see inter-guild struggles more.
Inevitably, the guilds are going to compete for contracts which would've made you feel as if you were making more a difference. It's hard to do a story for an open RPG obviously but after you play 2 or 3 characters, you get tired of playing a single player MMO.
