Left 4 Dead

Post by IskatuMesk »

You're about to hear something I'm certain you've only heard once or twice:

I like this game. I think it's awesome. I had a lot of fun with mucky/arcan/hks/wibod and I actually intend to put money on it.

I'm generally not a fan of shooters in general except in very specific circumstances, and have never been a fan of zombie shooters especially, but this game is highly entertaining when you get some decently skilled but completely braindead blokes together like ourselves, set the difficulty to max, and set yourselves on fire, guns blazing like madmen.

I'm going to upload a video of a game I had with arcan/mucky/HKS in a bit.

So it's a PC co-op FPS?  Sounds like fun, if just for the co-op.

It's also for the 360, but no one uses that thing, anyway, especially since as this is a valve/source game it's going to be largely customizable (Characters, weapons ect. are expected to be just as customizable in CS, TF2, so on).

It's 4 player co-op but the AI is also fairly decent and works fairly well in place of missing dudes.

Let's try to discuss what seperates this from most zombie shooters. That is probably the AI director. The demo is only two levels, but the AI director makes them different every time. This is good because you'll never really know what's up ahead, taking emphasis off having a set strategy and placing it on being able to think on your feet. There's also the fact that the mutated zombies are always trying to set up ambushes, so you have to stay alert and you can't wander off on your own.

The most memorable moment so far is when me, Arcan, Mesk and HKS are almost finished with the second level, Arcan says "This is rather anti-climatic for being expert." Just as he says that, a hunter pounces him. And that hunter happens to be on fire.

Everyone post their damn Steam accounts!

I'm Lavarinth or Lavarinth@hotmail.com

I own this. (Preordered to get demo.) And I ALSO think it's awesome, but I have issues with the mic reverbing like crazy.

Lol!

When I first read about this when it was first announed, I was curious to see how it ultimately turned out. From the sound of it, the developers succeeded very well.

l4d is pretty cool. The AI director really helps the game keep changing as Mucky said. Just like in CS:S, you can also use the console to totally fuck with the game. For example - want a horde of zombies four times as big as the ones you're getting, and coming every second? No problem! Unfortunately the netcode doesn't seem to like it, and it'll devour your bandwidth and cause zombies to start teleporting all over the place, making them even more lethal.

L4D is ok but there is a much better zombie simulator out there. Its just not promoted. Its called zombie survival and its a mod for Garry's mod. L4D is nothing compared to it.

Get gmod and connect to this server 99.198.101.203:27015 and prepare to be shocked at how much better it is than L4D. I've been playing Zombie survival for over a year nonstop and its the best game I've ever played in my entire life. (yeah, now you know why my activity around here has dropped. I've been too busy playing this game.)

If you haven't bought L4D yet, don't. Just buy Gmod which is 1/5th the price of L4D and connect to the server I linked you to. Its much cheaper and better than L4D.

My steam account: http://steamcommunity.com/id/zincoshine
I might as well play a few rounds of L4D with you guys.
