That would be something. However, there's been so many fake announcements that I'll only believe it when I see it.

Considering that it's GG.net, it'd be justified for me to have some expectations.

Just read through the TL translation of the FighterForum MP3. A "Kerrigan race"? Huh? I might be completely off, but that is pretty much the exact opposite of what is mentioned in both the BW storyline and Dark Origins.

The former clearly states that Kerrigan sits on the infested platform above Char, lording over the Zerg. The ending cinematic has her say that she'll give her enemies of old some respite, but that she will hunt them down eventually. There's no mention anywhere of her controlling that elusive 4th race, which I guess will have something to do with Hybrids - storyline-wise, it would be the most sensible continuation.
The latter has Duran mess with Zeratul's head. Duran mentions that he's seeded his Hybrid creations on many worlds (another pointer to a possible Hybrid race), and that he serves a greater power, as of yet unidentified. We know for certain that this isn't Kerrigan - the briefing of the last BW Zerg scenario clearly states that Duran has dissapeared on her - so his masters are either of Xel'Naga origin (more Stasis Cells, gah), or a completely new political power.

It could also mean that the role of Infested Terrans will be increased in SC2 (what with Kerrigan being infested, and all - "a Kerrigan-like race"), but Infested Terrans are already a part of the Zerg race, and thus no Hybrids in the Duran sense of the word (Protoss/Zerg). I can hardly believe that Infested Terrans would make up that 4th race.

I know I'm stating the obvious, but if I can figure this out, then so can they. I've wrestled my way through roughly half of the comments at GG and TL, and my eyes hurt. Such idiots. Of course SC2 will be in 3D, and of course it will revolutionize at least part of the old game, if not everything. It's the way of things - and guess what, nobody's holding you at gunpoint and forcing you to buy or play the game.

Anyone else notice that there's precious few people who care about the storyline (which I feel is the strongest element in SC:BW)?

I couldn't find anything about the FighterForum MP3 in either TL or GG. I couldn't be bothered sifting through even 3 pages of posts when the overall attitude is this:
its funny how all ppl care about is "the new shit" or the most "updated" shit..or "modern"..in the other article i made a few points about this shit but u still got airheads who dont understand it...again i will say how can u make a sequel to a neverending game thats already perfectly balanced..and to all you ppl saying it will bring all these new things to the sc community..it will bring all those things u want to the sc'2' community..which dont count after all that starcraft has accomplished..who cares if the game is fuckin 10 yrs old or not ppl still play it for a reason..so if u guys want these new graphics and 3d and all this modernized dumb shit that will change everything about sc as we know it...go play warcraft..but leave starcraft alone to the true brood warrers
All I can say is DIE IN A FIRE.

As for story, I've finished both vanilla and BW such a long time ago that I've all but forgotten that the game even had a storyline. Which is probably the case for most people. But I'll humor you anyway.

A "Kerrigan-like" race most likely implies infested terran as you said. I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard expanded on the infested terrans, but the only way they could be an independent race, from a storyline point of view, is if they weren't under Kerrigan's psionic control, which by the end of BW had eclipsed everything except for a few renegade Zerg cerebrates.

As for Duran, I have no clue whom he serves, but SC2 better give some light to the issue. Besides, Duran's hybrids are the only sensible race that would appear in SC2. Infested terrans are assimilated, not bred.

This here's is the translation of an MP3 that features some (apparently pretty high-ranked) guys talking about SC2.

Also:
All I can say is DIE IN A FIRE.
My sentiments exactly.

What a pointless post. There is nothing of substance anywhere. All it says is "there will be a new race and new units." I mean, WHOA, new content? The poor English doesn't help either. In fact, it contributes to the misinformation.

Other than stating the obvious, the article raises concerns that Blizzard might try to "kill" Starcraft to ensure the success of Starcraft 2. Are they out of their mind? Would Blizzard really that think the sequel will be inferior and that a forcing hand would be necessary? They might be right, though, seeing as how the competitive community has become so resistant to change that being able to hotkey more than one building apparently takes away interaction with the game. Kind of like the morons who think they're special because they can deny creeps in DotA.
