Re: StarCraft II Official! (Pictures)
I always expected, and wanted, them to do something more with creep.
But I think movement speed is the wrong bonus to be giving.

Probably health regen or something. Movement speed is just going to make the already stupidly fast zerg excessively retarded.

Re: StarCraft II Official! (Pictures)
Zerg don't need MORE health regen, theyre the only faction that has default health regen on everything. Faster regen on creep is just stupid, especially since Roaches would become fucking unkillable.
Now with 50% more lol, 50% more win, and 100% phlail.

Re: StarCraft II Official! (Pictures)
Not if you based it on a % of existing regen, therefore making Roaches receive less of a benefit than the other units.
It wouldn't be nearly as retarded as having everything move lightning-quick, anyway. I think you underestimate just how retarded 30% speed boost is on everything. Imagine ultralisks!

It could slow other dudes. Which would make more sense anyway.

Re: StarCraft II Official! (Pictures)
Speed is fine. +% to health regen creates less new gameplay than speed does. Zerg can defend their bases more efficiently by relocating their army to new hotspots, many of their units are melee so it helps them to start dealing damage sooner (or close in on those terrible, mean old Siege Tanks), and there is far more micro potential now.
It will change a lot of minutia, too. Zerg now have a homefield advantage against worker scouting.
Will it affect Drones? If yes, it means either faster mining or slower expanding (slowing down the default Drone speed to compensate for mining means on normal ground they'll move slower than other workers).

That's a good point, Hercanic. What about drones? Obviously it wouldn't effect gas mining, but minerals yes. There must be some kind of balance scaling here for this to work. I wouldn't be surprised if the bonus is moved out entirely.
I have seen the Desler. I have tasted of his milk and honey.

Yeah, definitely.tipereth wrote: It could slow other dudes. Which would make more sense anyway.
Also, Karune posted something later on saying that Drones are not affected, which makes this bonus very arbitrary, unless you justify it by saying that Drones are hovering units... or decrease the Drone's base speed and then apply the bonus. IMHO it still should be a penalty to enemy units though, instead of a bonus.
Karune also stated that, obviously, the bonus % may change.
Heh, I can picture Zerg players making creep highways and bringing lots of Overlords to make creep before they do a major attack, as creep also damages enemy buildings in the current version of SC2.

It'd make sense to me as instead of "benefit" it's instead a requirement for Drones to be on creep for full move speed. Creep is [not] a benefit to Zerg, it's almost a life-source, a requirement for them to survive.

So- Since it IS a life-source for them, it should not benefit them. That's like saying we should have faster attack speed in earth-like planets because we breath oxygen.

Re: StarCraft II Official! (Pictures)
Rule #1: Gameplay > Logic
Slowing down units: Unless you're dealing with a Pro-GG game where opponents resign when they know they've lost, you will always have to assault their base. That is a constant advantage. Contrast that with faster units for your opponent. They won't always have units with which to take advantage of creep. In other words, with or without units, attacking a Zerg player with slow-creep will always be at your disadvantage, whereas without units a Zerg player with fast-creep cannot benefit from his advantage.

That's why I'm speaking Drone-only. I already figured creep was a gameplay aspect enough as it was by only letting buildings build on it.

Re: StarCraft II Official! (Pictures)
I don't know if I like the "home base" advantage they're adding here. One of the things I specifically didn't like about Warcraft 3 was how they made each base basically have its own defense built in, meaning early attacks were pretty much impossible if the other person knows what he's doing. Especially undead bases.
I always took Zerg to be a kind of "throw caution to the wind, go for the throat" kind of race, since they're so busy going after the other guy to worry about defense.
