I was on acid and shrooms and somehow the word MantisScreamer came to mind...

seriously though I got it from the Starcraft Manual, the Mantis Screamer was the Mutalisk b4 the overmind assimilated it.

Basically a keyboard mashing.  Really.  I thought it looked kinda neat at the time, so I used it here and there, and it stuck.

By the way, the official pronunciation is 'eh-key-non'.  It differed between a lot of things in my mind for awhile, but Adun stepped in put that battle to rest, by forcing offering that one.

Well, Frozty was derived from FrozenTomato, which was just pure random word matching.

I was working on a mod for a game called Starsiege. Third game in a line of an old Mech-like games called EarthSiege. After Starsiege came the FPS game that really launched multiplayer teamplay and vehicles into popularity, Starsige: Tribes. The sequels that followed were Tribes 2 and Tribes: Vengence. I'd imagine many people here have at least heard of Tribes.

In any case, I made a mod for Tribe's predecessor, a cool game with a deep storyline and highly-developed history. The mechs in the game were known as H.E.R.C.U.L.A.N.S. Obviously, it stood for some long-ass acronym with words like Humanoid and Articulation in it. For short, the bipedal vehicles were known as Hercs. Since I was designing a mod, I thought of myself as a mechanic. Mech-anic. Since these were Hercs rather than Mechs, I formulated the name Hercanic: a mechanic for Hercs. =oP

Iskatu is a Zegredark fleet from TOA. It symbolizes honor, strength, nobility. Mesk is the Dunnmur fleet, a symbol of corruption, deceit, and despair.

Little would I know that the name I created ten years ago would bring such a retarded amount of irony today. That's why I tend not to use it much anymore.

TOA = Throne of Armageddon, my novel.

That project = one of many ill-fated wc3 campaigns I tried to make that got nowhere because I can't model.

If you knew about my mental instability you would see the irony in it. (I have Schizophrenia)
