Actually, I think Blizzard is going to fuck up raiding not with more 10-mans, but by changing buffs/debuffs to the point where you can have everything covered by a 10-man. Basically, many buffs are going to no longer stack and they'll be raid-wide. Battle Shout doesn't stack with Blessing of Might for example. The last thing this game needs is the sheer mediocrity that is Karazhan to become the standard of raiding in WotLK. Oh well, good thing shadow priests are getting buffed so they can actually PvP again.

Re: 18 hour boss!
I've fought Illidan, and the only reason you'll ever see the fight last 20 minutes is if your raid sucks. The fight goes on for at most 12 minutes (Illidan's enrage timer, much like Magtheridon, is only there so you can't just keep fighting him forever, which is conceivable considering there's a lot of dead time once you hit Phase 3).Spiderking wrote: Isn't Illidan like a 20 minute fight? In my opinion 20 minutes is to long for me, seriously after 10 minutes it kind of gets old. I can't imagine spending over an hour on one boss. 18 is just not worth it.
There is, however, a fight that goes for on average 25 minutes, and that's Kael'thas, which is one of the best, if not the best, raid encounter in the Burning Crusade (I can't vouch for Kil'jaeden since I never fought him). Phase 1 you fight each of his advisors one at a time. Phase 2 you fight Legendary weapons which you can use for the duration of the fight once you defeat each of them (in fact they're required to win). Phase 3 you have to fight all of Kael'thas's advisors at once (which is arguably the hard part), and in 2 minutes Phase 4 starts and Kael'thas joins the fight himself in addition to any advisors and weapons that are still alive-- summons Phoenixes periodically and mind controls random people in the raid. At 50% life Phase 5 starts, and Kael'thas does this really awesome animation where he infuses himself with the power of the nether and becomes a giant, and starts messing with the gravity so everyone's floating all over the place.
The Illidan fight is stupid next to this.

Fact of the matter is Blizzard is changing the very core of raiding so everything takes less time because the guy that has a "life" can't do the hardcore content and less focus on raid composition for those must have buffs which is already screwed up (Rampage vs LotP that heals and 2min Battle Shout vs 30min Might among other things).Hunter_Killers wrote: I could really see them doing something wrong during the fight.
Also what do you even play on now mucky? because my guild exploded and i'm just flailing around.

Re: 18 hour boss!
See, this sounds amazingly awesome and all.. But I just can't have myself in agreement with dozens of other people to get the gear required to survive in this stuff. I basically quit on my first 60 because I wasn't part of a raiding guild, but a casual guild, and no one wanted to go participate in raids and I wasn't very much interested either. I went into one raid, forgot what it was, and it was boring to sit through the chatter of 39 others.RazorclawX wrote:I've fought Illidan, and the only reason you'll ever see the fight last 20 minutes is if your raid sucks. Who'd of thought the Lich King, who just spurred up an army of undead and a huge Dragon could be killed by a worthless nobody when he could defeat Illidan as well.

You're a terrible troll. The raiding scene has people that only play WoW, but on the other hand the vast majority is made up of University students, married people and people who have jobs. The only difference between the casuals and the hardcore is that the majority of the casuals are made up of people who cry about not getting handed gear and high school students.Desler wrote:If you're gonna do something wrong, do it right.
