BlizzCon Ticket Issues

Post by Lavarinth »

... So looks like I probably wont be going, after attempting to purchase tickets for the past 30-something hours and reaching the checkout screen five different occasions to no luck of completing the purchase. I'm sorry.. But this attempt for Blizzard to sell tickets was udder bullshit considering I sat there clicking my ass away for hours and some nutjob could just come in the following day at noon when they went back on sale and pick one up. Now I have to wait until 8PM tonight for other people who just get to waltz on in without having to wait unlike how I've been waiting so that I can once again be presented with fucked up XML pages and the lack of ability to fully purchase tickets. I'm pissed.

Yeah, sold out within minutes apparently.  Well, thats a relief for me anyways.  While I did want to go, I just can't afford to shut down my business for a few days in October, which is one of my busiest 3 months of the year.  I don't think I'll ever be going since hopefully SC2 will be released by this time next year.

See, that's the thing. I CAN afford to go, but it'd be best to apply the money elsewhere. However, the reason I wanted to go was to see the pre-release stuff and just to have more thing to show at CC. Plans foiled again, though.. Well, we'll see in two hours when the tickets go back up.

This is worse than buying concert tickets.

At least I was able to BUY concert tickets that sold out within 30 minutes. That's oh.. 24 minutes longer than I had with Blizzard.

God.. I don't think I've ever been more pissed, and this is over something so ridiculously stupid.

Here I am, rushing, getting through all the pages.. Reach the "Complete Order" order.. Hit Checkout. And a nice little "Processing" thing pops up. Aaaand of course what does it say? "SORRY CAN'T DO THAT!" .... Fuck! Gives me a number to call to finish the transaction, but guess what! They're CLOSED!

It's been an entire year since the issue arose with my American Express being denied by Blizzard even while I talked to them on the phone, only days later to receive a phone call after the tickets being sold out, by American Express themselves asking me if I want to approve charges to Blizzard. WHY they didn't automatically approve, I don't know. But God only knows how upset I was then. And saved the money, did the research, planned vacation period all for this year. Only to be shot down because of some stupid server issues they didn't prepare for. Wow. Just wow. Honestly- I'm depressed.

I'm out for a bit.

I'm attempting to remove my account information from the Blizzard store. If they don't do so within 24 hours I will threaten legal action because I decided they no longer have the right to retain that information.

What is your business exactly?  Some kind of "house of prostitution" or something?  ARE YOU A PIMP?

I heard that there was a grand total of 12k tickets. How much you want to bet that 4k of those tickets are going to be scalped?

They got pwned by their own success. Ironic, the company that runs WoW servers can't get a blizzcon server to stay up.

Ouch.  There were similar events for another MMORPG game I played so long ago (it was text based).  Those events always had the same people in attendance, so I imagine that a lot of people who went last year wanted to go this year again, in addition to everyone else.  For a lot of WoWers, I'm sure it would be entire guilds attempting to get tickets as well.  I know you guys are pissed right now, but its really just an unfortunate situation of too much demand.  Blizzard did what they could to expand Blizzcon this year, but they just had too much going on this year that created an unreasonable demand on the tickets.

I really feel sorry for the people who probably made costumes thinking they could get tickets as easily as last year, only to not be able to attend.  Although I'm sure you'll see some tickets on eBay possibly.

Edit:  Actually, looking now there is already one for sale.  400$, eesh.

Blizzard always underestimates the demand.  I don't know if its a modesty issue or their reputation of always making conservative estimates about numbers and deadlines.
I have seen the Desler.  I have tasted of his milk and honey.
