I disagree with Aekanon in that it is THE way to go. I think it is just another way to go. I like both, and I think that both kind of campaign websites being available will add something whereas only one style loses something.
So Oracle's LotC3 approach + Desler's project websites with different styles (tell a lot, tell nothing at all) is gonna be nice.

Re: A glimpse at my StarCraft 2 project.
I probably shouldn't have sounded so absolute about it. Since I'm always combing websites for all the info they're worth, I can't say I dislike that approach either. It's fun to read about lore, no question about that. Fun to write too, methinks.
Still, even so, I think the most intriguing way to discover a character is solely through his progression in the story. Having experienced a lot of both ways, that's the way I feel about it, anyway. I'm not saying the other way's bad, I just tend to enjoy this one more. I guess.

Re: A glimpse at my StarCraft 2 project.
Here are a few more takes on the android. A bit louder than the initial sample, but maxxed out for in-game conversation. I did these today, so maybe they may be easier to understand.

I think I'm pretty much settled on the effects. I had a lot of ideas for an android voice, but this one sounds the most menacing, as they aren't exactly toys in the story, though they are the stormtroopers of the campaign, generic, expendable, and everywhere. (The campaign isn't about the androids at all, but they do solve a lot of problems I had story-wise.)
Edit: Added 005 which is a longer line than the others.

I like it too except sample four, "Unit initialized" was somewhat difficult to understand the vowels. At first I thought you said a rushed, "Unit energized."
I have seen the Desler. I have tasted of his milk and honey.

Well done! Those will make for some awesome robots. The effects and pronunciations you're using are a refreshing change from the 'typical' robot voice you hear just about everywhere else, I say.

Re: A glimpse at my StarCraft 2 project.
Heh, and I was just playing CI last week. Wasn't really sure what brought that on. Mission 3-3 has always been a favorite along with the whole EDAST story, although from the way you make it sound, it seems like it would be more along the lines of what you did in The Fenix.
Oh if you want to do any promo videos, since most likely they'll be using directX with Starcraft II, might I reccomend FRAPS for screen capture?

For screen cap, I was going to do whichever one I could find that with offer good resolution as well as in-game smoothness. Does the fact that it uses DirectX make is a smooth capture?

Re: A glimpse at my StarCraft 2 project.
To put it simply fraps grabs the video data immediately after it has been rendered by whatever graphics card you are using. Anything that uses DirectX or OpenGL can be captured by Fraps at it's up to 2560x1600 and up to 100 FPS (computer hardware providing, at 1280x1024 60fps, it takes 4 GB in about 2 minutes.)
The fraps.com website has a demo video of WoW and a few other games. Unfortunately Starcraft original is not fully compatible (starts and stops) and I think that is simply the level of DirectX adoption back then...does that even use directx to begin with now that I think about it?

Sounds like it'll work - I'll try that one first. And Lavarinth, works for me. I guess maybe clear your internet cache and try again.

Sounds good.
I was trying to use fraps and record sound, I was getting around 3.06 GB for a thirty second clip.

Re: A glimpse at my StarCraft 2 project.
You should still note something about FRAPS. Having used it exstensively.
Any footage it saves is saved with it's own codec, it's near lossless, so no prob. It does take a chunk of CPU to capture though, so anything 3D will need higher (sometimes much higher) specs to capture, especially in higher resolutions.
Also there is the very real issue that FRAPS is a software thing. It will eat up your memory, while a hardware capture card does not. You might want to consider that, since a hardware card does not eat memory or slow down your performance.
That said, FRAPS has been enough for me in the past.
