I am confused though. They say you get to make awesome cinematics while playing. What would be awesome is if you were playing, with say Raynor, with his ingame model and when you move to a cutscene you actually get to watch his high res model do his thing. When you go back to gameplay, he's back to the low poly RTS one.
This begs another question: How many high res models do we get to make those cinematics with? Only those Blizzard uses themselves?

Re: StarCraft II Official! (Pictures)
I'm sure it IS only those Blizzard uses themselves, why would they go through the trouble to make high res models just for campaign makers? As much as that would be cool, I just don't see that happening at all. I'll be really happy though if they drop the -cinematics-, as in, FMV, for in-game effects, thus focusing everything into the game engine itself. In other words, I hope the FMV we've seen right now is all the FMV we are going to see, and the rest be in-game.
Edit: Oh yeah, another thought. The older Zerg teaser looks like it was done entirely in-game, and though the units didn't exactly look 'high res', they were definitely of acceptable quality for cinematics in general. I was wondering at the time if they just did that using the models they had real quick using a 3d program, but now it seems as if it was all done using the game engine in-game itself.

Re: StarCraft II Official! (Pictures)
So we got a confirmation that there will be achievements in SC2 (and other Blizz games). Interesting, yet not really crucial. Interesting question though: Can we create achievements ourselves? A good long running campaign could have those, might be fun. Or even better, CC released projects can have achievements? "That guy was awesome at LotC 3, unlocked it all, but hasn't played the newest Desler-campaign yet it seems."

I built my empire by myself, from the ground up (well really with one of those 5x5 piece of flat lego).Marine 382BB wrote: Good times? you dont know the massive amount of time to get those slaves to work, i cant tell you how many little korean kids i didnt feed when they were building my empire of legos... not good times. If we are going to be able to do our own cutscences and briefing rooms, there should be no reason for us not to have custom achievements.Marine 382BB wrote: Good times? you dont know the massive amount of time to get those slaves to work, i cant tell you how many little korean kids i didnt feed when they were building my empire of legos... not good times. No updates to SC2 makes me one sad Dragoon.
I have seen the Desler. I have tasted of his milk and honey.

A model is a model. Even if the high-res models aren't immediately available for ingame use it would be extremely easy to make them so.Maglok wrote: I am confused though. As for the second question, only those Blizzard uses unless they scrap certain models they don't use and leave them for you to play with.

It would be cool if they released a Beta editor with the Beta, if it ever comes. XD

They stated there would be no public beta, so I doubt the private beta would have an editor.
