Thats terrible, I was looking forward to seeing him play the Joker.

Dark Knight has finished filming, so you'll still get to see Joker in all his glory...

...hell if anything, this could be to Heath Ledger what The Crow was to Brandon Lee.

My exact thoughts. RIP, Heath Ledger.

Agreed, I was just discussing this with my parents last night. He'll always be remembered for the Joker now. Just as Jack Nicholson was for all these years, except Heath Ledger had signed on for repeat roles as the Joker in future Batman movies. To find an exact replacement would be near impossible knowing the extremes he went through to prepare for his role. Jack Nicholson- Hm, I found his comment rather obscene about the situation. His only comment want something along the lines of "I warmed him." Seriously? I warned him? He died from possibly overdosing on his medication for the sickness he acquired for sleeping hardly even 2 hours a night for his dedication to his role. There were over enough pills in the bottle still to take away the possibility of a suicide, and no one would generally prefer to die naked on the ground as a suicide. The saddest part is he was still alive when found, and the ambulance simply took too long to arrive, although it was in a, respectively, timely manner.

Ledger doesn't seem like a man who would overdose. He's had a pretty clean record, eh?

I wonder what Heath Ledger would say if he knew how well his movie was doing.  And I do say his movie.  Its like a character study from Batmans point of view.
