Invented AI for a campaign?

Post by noname »

I like campaigns very much, but most of them are too easy for the core players. I was wondering about to invent some AI`s form project like Ahzz 1.2.5 or BWAI 3.2. Is this possible? Thoughts? Discuss.

I mean to improve the intensity of a campaing by adding a difficult, though AI (not just the Insane AI of the BW) and make it harder to accomplish the objectives. (in macro based campagins of course) These AI`s just macroing like oov, forget about micro, but it`s way much better. :)
Nowdays everybody can defeat easily the basic BW AI`s thanks to superior macro management compared to AI.
I wonder what do you think guys, is this viable?

Well I think that a lot of campaigns are based around story and mainly different gameplay then basic 'build a base' and not about how difficulty it is. For me, I rather not have a really hard experience, if I wanna do that I can log on battle.net and play against top notch human players. Personally don't like the frustration that comes with failing a mission.

Also your making a really big assumption that everyone can 'easily' beat certain AIs. ;)

Most AI's are generally easy unless it's 1 vs 7 Insane computers though 1 vs 7 comps isn't that hard if you use the right startegy

The original campaigns use specific mission-based AI's. That'd require editing each one. Custom campaigns use general AI's you can edit, sure, but then why wouldn't of the author just spawned excess units and resources for the AI to use in the first place if he wanted it difficult?

It's true that the original campaigns are too easy, but you can always find harder ones, for example The Enslavers, especially the second part.
