New Campaign: Fall and Rise

Post by omega20 »

I am very sorry if I have caused any inconvenience by cancel the campaign War in Koprulu, but I've had to redesign it again to improve its quality. The campaign War in Koprulu, now renamed Fall and Rise, will be a prequel for a new campaign. Fall and Rise is already in progress.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fall and Rise is a campaign set in the Starcraft universe, during much of the original Starcraft storyline (from later Rebel Yell to the end of The Fall). It describes the story a group of Terran survivors that has survived the collapse of the Confederacy, and are trying to survive among the ruins of his once homeworld, Tarsonis. However, a powerful enemy will arise. His identity is unknown. However, he is planning to the entire Koprulu sector. Very soon, they will be absorbed in the struggle of powers in this sector of space...

And thus begins the story.

Fall and Rise is the prequel for another campaign. This campaign will be named War of Destiny and it will take place sometime after the end of the Brood War.
FALL AND RISE
STORY:

Arcturus Mengsk. The man who has been tormenting the Confederacy for years, since that fateful day on which the Confederate High Command ordered the death of Angus Mengsk and his family in the capital city of Korhal, Styrling, finally achieved his goal. With the help of General Edmund Duke, Captain Jim Raynor, and Lieutenant Sarah Kerrigan, Mengsk managed to overthrow the Confederacy at their own midst, the Confederate capitol world of Tarsonis. After weakening the Tarsonian defenses, Mengsk made his last order as rebel leader against the Confederacy: he ordered put Psi-Emitters in the Confederate homeworld.

The Zerg, responding to the call of the Psi-Emitters, began arriving in Tarsonis to billions. The sky of Tarsonis was turned black from the clouds of flyers sewing death in the main Confederate cities and industrial centers, not one person survived the genocide. With their defenses weakened by the Korhalian attacks and their armies being decimated by the Zerg, the members of the Confederate Command were witnesses of its own destruction.

Following direct orders from Arcturus Mengsk, General Duke took control of the Ion Cannon in orbit of Tarsonis, and he was entrusted with the task of shooting down any Confederate aircraft that made any attempt to leave the slaughter that was happening on the surface of the planet. However, another war was starting in Tarsonis.

With the Confederate Council gone, what was left of the Confederate forces began an internal struggle to gain control of the Confederate remnants. Having to choose to die at the hands of the Zerg, be destroyed by the Ion Cannon, or falling into battle against their own forces, the Confederate survivors did not see chance of survival. However, soon a leader rose up to gain the control of the remaining Confederate forces.

Dominic Ledbetter, a high-ranking General of the Confederacy, and the highest-ranking officer who was still alive, attempts to reorganize the remaining Confederate forces and show them a common goal: join them against the Zerg, as they prepare for their final assault against the Terrans in Tarsonis. The endure the Confederate legacy or its extinct is now in the Ledbetter's hands.

The Terran Confederacy, also known as the Confederacy of Man, was an interstellar confederacy set up by the Terrans of the Koprulu Sector. The home planet of the Confederacy was the colony of Tarsonis, one of the three original Terran colonies in the Sector.

The Terran Confederacy government, based on Tarsonis, consisted of a Senate and a Council. The former had representatives from a number of worlds. The Senate was generally viewed as corrupt, but so was the Council. The latter is noted for having no mandate from the people. The Old Families also wielded a large degree of political influence.

After the fall of the Confederacy, it was succeeded by the Terran Dominion, the name of the empire founded by the Sons of Korhal. Much of the remnants of the Confederacy joined the Dominion, willingly or otherwise. However, some remnants of the Confederate military factions survived its collapse and went into hiding. Most of these remnants are stranded in Tarsonis yet, awaiting for the day on which someone can rescue them from the Zerg.

TERRAN DOMINION:
Race(s): Terran
Leader(s): Emperor Arcturus Mengsk I
Base: Korhal IV
Role: Interstellar Dominion
Status: Active

The Terran Dominion was created after the fall of the Confederacy at the height of the war between the Terrans, the Zerg and the Protoss from the the Sons of Korhal and many other Terran factions. It is an empire headed by former Sons of Korhal leader Arcturus Mengsk. Korhal IV is the throne world of the Dominion.

The successful destruction of Tarsonis caused the fall of the Confederacy. Most Confederate survivors joined the Sons of Korhal, including the remaining Confederate squadrons, which were forcefully conscripted, giving the Dominion military supremacy. The former rebels saved many Terran lives, but refused to assist worlds that did not welcome their intervention and/or that didn't call on them for help, as Mengsk remarked that the planet's local government had ultimate authority on that planet and the Dominion had to establish a new government to protect these worlds.

For the first time, all of the Terran colonies within the Koprulu Sector (including Umoja and Moria) were united under one sovereign ruler. A few exceptions, such as Raynor's Raiders, a few scattered Confederate factions and some pirate militias.

The Dominion government is based out of Augustgrad, the capital of the throne world of Korhal IV. The Dominion set up a powerful defense grid on Korhal consisting of battlecruisers, nukes and other deterrents.

As the Ara Tribe maintains control within the Assembly, it controls who will preside in the Conclave. The Ara commands the khalen'ri Praetor Guard, the personal guard and enforcement of the Conclave.

He is quite clever and reasonable in every respect, and has proved many times to have one of the most prominent minds between the Protoss. Like the most of the members of the Conclave, he believes in the teachings of the Khala, but he is never blinded by ideology, nor he approves the racist ideology that dominates many in the Conclave. For that, he is often tasked with the teaching of the Khala dogmas to the Protoss infants and send to other planets for scout missions.

Race(s): Protoss

Status: Active

The Dark Templar are a group of rogue Protoss who reject the Khala and were exiled from his homeworld: Aiur. To demonstrate this they cut their nerve appendages, severing themselves from the Protoss psionic communal link. There is a history of mistrust and hatred between the Dark Templar and the Protoss of Aiur.

Dark Templar were taught to hide from the Conclave by the powerful Templar Adun. This ability has been described as "bending light" and "merging with shadows".

Dark Templar wield the energies of the cosmos. Dark Templar energies are harmful to the Zerg Cerebrates and Overmind due to the similarities of the cosmic energies they wield.

Dark Templar are cut off from the Preservers; they have no Preservers of their own, and their memories cannot be accessed by the Preservers. They have the ability to "store" personalities within Khaydarin Crystals.

Like many of her kind, Cyrus remained loyal to his homeworld and species but bore little to no ill will to those who had banished his people. Burning with desire to understand their origins and why the Xel'Naga had considered the Protoss failures and subsequently created the Zerg, Cyrus is part of a group sent by the Dark Templar Matriarch Raszagal to seek information that can reveal more of Protoss and Xel'Naga history.

ZERG SWARM:
Race(s): Zerg
Leader(s): Overmind
Base: Mobile
Role: Ever-evolving Swarm
Status: Active

The Zerg are a terrifying and ruthless amalgamation of biologically advanced, arthropodal aliens. Dedicated to the pursuit of genetic perfection, the Zerg relentlessly hunt down and assimilate advanced species across the galaxy, incorporating useful genetic code into their own, and exterminate any species that might corrupt the purity of the Zerg genome.

The Zerg slowly made their way towards the Terran worlds from their homeworld, Zerus. The journey lasted for sixty years, but eventually the massive, extended Zerg Swarm reached the outskirts of the Koprulu Sector. A number of Fringe Worlds were immediately infested.

The Zerg continued to penetrate into the Sector. The Terran Confederacy colony Chau Sara was subtly invaded first with Hive Spores, before the bulk of the Zerg force arrived to complete the infestation process. The Terrans were defeated. A Protoss fleet led by Executor Tassadar arrived shortly thereafter and sterilized the planet, effectively ending the infestation. The Overmind ordered its minions not to resist so that it could observe the Protoss in action. The Confederacy attempted to keep the Zerg presence a secret from its own citizens.

The Zerg were lured to Mar Sara with psi emitters. The Confederates made little attempt to oppose them, even arresting militias which dared to attack them. Meanwhile, the Zerg invaded several other worlds, which were then purified by the Protoss. The Sons of Korhal stole the emitter technology and used it as a weapon against the Confederacy. Then, they lured the Zerg to Tarsonis, the Confederate capital, causing the fall of the Confederacy.

For this work, Kaloth has access to all the genetic information in the Swarm. In addition, Kaloth can take control of part of other Brood if this is required for its research. Kaloth has spent all the war against the Protoss and the Terrans on one of the most distant worlds of Zerg-controlled space, experimenting with some captured Protoss and Terran specimens and working with information obtained from Terran infested instalations. Finally, soon after the Fall of Tarsonis, it moved to the surface of the former Confederate Capital World. With the Confederacy fallen and the remnants of the Confederate forces fighting among themselves, Kaloth found no obstacle to establish its main hives on the planet and begin to develop the new strains of warriors obtained from its research.

Recently, Argoth landed along to Kaloth on the desolate planet of Tarsonis to follow the Cerebrate's schemes. Although at first glance he may seem a simple Hydralisk, Argoth is a great lover of battle, and anyone who fights against him will see he is a very worthy opponent.

Grosshakk:
Basic Info: Zerg Cerebrate, unknown age
Allegiance: Zerg Swarm, Anubis Brood
Occupation: Cerebrate, Master of the Anubis Brood
Unit: Cerebrate

Brief Description:

(Not written yet)

PLACES:

[imgwh 320x240]http://images.wikia.com/starcraft/image ... rsonis.jpg[/imgwh]
TARSONIS:
Terrain: Badlans, jungle, space platform
Affiliation: Confederate Splinter Factions
Status: Confederate capital world (lapsed), infested by the Zerg

A temperate planet with a core continent and 27 hour day, Tarsonis was colonized by Terran prisoners who landed in the vessel, the Nagglfar. This supercarrier vessel had on board ATLAS, an artificial intelligence which also recorded information on Terran technology and mutations. Once the ship had landed, the 'cold sleep' chambers were deactivated and the 10,000 passengers slowly awakened.

The inhabitants of Tarsonis worked to survive in what they termed 'the New World'. Soon, Tarsonis became the largest and most technologically advanced of the Terran colonies. Although Tarsonis kept pushing Umoja and Moria to join in a conglomerated government, the two colonies steadfastly refused. When Tarsonis expanded far enough and it became quite powerful, a new government, christened the Terran Confederacy, was founded by the Tarsonian colonies, and since then Tarsonis became the intellectual and political center of the sector.

Recently, the Sons of Korhal arrived at Tarsonis. General Edmund Duke's Alpha Squadron assaulted the central of the three primary orbital platforms. He set up Psi Emitters on the platform and on the surface. Like a beacon, the combined power of the Psi Emitters reached out to the far corners of the Terran Sector, luring billions of Zerg to Tarsonis which, overrunning the Confederacy's best defenses, proceed to lay waste to Tarsonis' major cities and industrial centers. Although most of the Confederacy was destroyed during the initial attack, some of its remaining forces remain in hiding on the surface of Tarsonis.

[imgwh 640x345]http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/starc ... nAiur1.jpg[/imgwh]
AIUR:
Terrain: Jungle, space platform
Affiliation: Protoss Empire
Status: Homeworld of the Protoss

Aiur is the homeworld of the Protoss, located in a star system with a single yellow star and possessing a single moon not unlike Luna. The planet is covered with vegetation and has many lush jungles, populated by creatures such as the bengalaas. It has furious seas and stormy weather. Indeed, its summer storms have been known to appear over plateaus and disappear in the blink of an eye.

It is a huge world located on the fringes of the Milky Way Galaxy. It was engineered by the Xel'Naga and left to itself for a long period of time. When the Xel'Naga returned, they discovered the Protoss on the world. They guided Protoss evolution, albeit too fast. As a result, they were forced to flee. When the Xel'Naga were forced to flee the world, they left behind large amounts of Khaydarin Crystals. Due to the flight of the Xel'Naga, Aiur was devastated in the Aeon of Strife but after the period ended, it began to steadily recover.

Recently, Aiur was attacked by the Zerg Swarm in an attempt to consume and assimilate the entire Protoss species.

Protoss structures and units, to a lesser extent, draw their energy from a great psionic energy matrix that emanates from Aiur. This energy can be linked to a Nexus, but Khaydarin Crystal-based Pylons are needed to actually tap into the energy required to provide psionic energy to new colonies and bases.

I have finished the introduction. Please inform if you see a bug or you want to improve something. The mod is not yet finished, but you can play this map without it.

This map is not completely finished. I want to say that I would like to change some things in this map, specially the part of the Sons of Korhal attack and the Ledbetter's Final Scene. I just put this as a "demonstration", to you can play this and make your comments. The fixed map will be upload along with the rest of the campaign. :) :)

I'm locking your thread so you get the idea that I'm serious for two days. Next time, I'm blocking you out of the site for a week to see if that will stop you from double posting, ESPECIALLY on a post after you say "it wont happen again."

EDIT: Topic unlocked.

10/05/2008 UPDATE:

The maps 1 and 2 are almost finished. I have to put the briefing of each one and some triggers. At this rate, I think I will finish the campaign ahead of schedule.  :) :)

I think the best thing is that I put the maps here one after another, and you informed me of any bug. Then, when all the maps will be finished and fixed, I will release all those together. ;) The mod will be posted soon. 8)

But... I must placed the files in the update?? ??? I thought that you refering that the double posting happened if I wrote a post after another ON THE SAME DAY... Anyway, always we can learn something. :P Oh, and you do not worry about the importance. I still have the original files stored on the computer. I'm going to put back the files here. Let's see if this time I don't have problems. :-[ The third is lucky, as someone say... :) And please, Lav, forgive me for that. It seems that I misunderstood that part of the double posting. Sorry. :-[ :-[ And a last thing, Lav. There anything else concerning the double posting apart of that I shouldn't I write a post after another write for me, IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCE OR MOMENT, that I must know? :-\ . I would appreciate it if you, please, inform me of it if there is something else. :) Thanks. ;) I don't like that in a few days, we will have this discussion again. :(

I repeat: I have put here the introduction and the trial version of the mod of the campaign. The introduction is undergoing tests and could be changed in the future (depending of your view) The mod isn't finished. There is only the portraits and some modifications of the units. You notify me if you find a bug or something you think that I can improve.

Well, I looked at both of your maps, and there are some "bugs" which should be fixed:

-Several grammatical errors, even in the first sentences of the briefing which can easily scare away the players.
-In the first version the attacks take a bit too much time, they should be shorter.
-It doesn't look good when you just kill a base and its attackers with a trigger, the player shouldn't see that.
-In the second version of the introduction after the yellow and red texts appear nothing happens. Red marines should come and attack like in the first but nothing. ::)

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the rest, just post them here if you want some testing.

Well, my English isn't perfect, so I don't surprising that there are some grammatical errors. I will try to modify that. :P

Well, it is assumed that the player MUSTN'T see that. This is one of the biggest problems I have tried to fix. Sometimes, the trigger work perfectly, but another times, it fails. I believe that I must increase the time between the elimination of the shared vision and the destruction of the base. ::)

The marines don't attack? It is strange. To me this isn't pass. It may be a problem with the switches. Well, that is a matter for further checking... ;)

It isn't necessary that you count the first introduction, anyway. That was only a test of the original.

Hehe. I see that here we can also enjoy a good sense of humor... :D ;D

I have decided that in some missions (if not all) I'm going to put music. This may delay a little more the release of the maps. I have attached one of the songs that I'm going to put. This song will be the title theme for Fall and Rise. You tell me your opinion.

Re: New Campaign: Fall and Rise

No matter how original your story, how ambitious your plans and how beautiful your custom material is, you'll NEVER be taken seriously if your work contains so many grammatical/spelling/syntactic errors. Saying English isn't your first language is never an excuse, because nobody forced you to make a campaign, so you're going to need the help of a proofreader/editor. Language is your presentation.

I know this doesn't sound nice, but it's the way it is. Work it out.
