New Campaign: Call from the Abyss...
When I made the campaign Legacy of a Warrior it gave me more oppurtunities to create new stories and made me want to create more campaigns and this story I have finally finished developing so I decided to create this one as well, I hope you guys like the story right now.
Call from the Abyss...
The Zerg, a chaotic race that has sewn death and destruction to planets over the sector in their mad mission to assimilate the Protoss into their race and create perfection that their creators attempted to do so long ago. Their long search is now over, when Zeratul slew Zasz on Char his mind connected with the Overmind. Through Zeratul the Overmind was able to find Aiur and now they mass their armies in warp travel to finally complete their long awaited journey, the assimilation of Aiur.
The sky was turned black from the clouds of flyers sewing death in the outlying protoss villages, not one Protoss survived the genocide. The Conclave didn’t take as much attention on the Zerg as they did to what they believed to be a traitor, Tassadar. Fenix, Zeratul and Jim Raynor were taking action at trying to release Tassadar before execution. Unknown to them that the Overmind reached to Kerrigan who remained on Char to send most of her forces to Aiur, like all Zerg she swiftly agreed. If Tassadar cannot be released then the Zerg that come from Char will along with the Zerg on Aiur be able to rampage the Conclave and the Executor’s forces causing more death and destruction.
Steward Mel’an, promising pupil of Tassadar before leaving in his ‘purification’ mission of Zerg infested planets is sent on a mission – a dire mission – when one day he was sleeping one night when the Zerg attacks slowed he had a vision, a vision that told him of a power far in the reaches of an inner planet in the sector where he saw a glowing artifact that held ancient power. The power to rid Aiur of the Zerg and possibly from the universe if one could wield it. The Conclave agreed to Mel’an to find this artifact, now Mel’an searches far into the reaches of the sector desperately trying to find this artifact before all is lost on Aiur and the Protoss are extinct.
Though Mel’an may not be able to carry such power as the artifact can fill the person in search of this with greed, deceit, and power and make you under its sway. If Mel’an cannot stand against its call and use it for good not his own purposes at the end then all could be lost for he could use it to put the entire sector towards his knees. The Conclave most likely anticipating this sends Templar Warrior Z’Lura as their spy with one mission: If Mel’an shows any type of power, anger or deceit towards any of the loyal followers during this mission then kill or incapacitate him at all costs.
The artifact Mel’an believes is to be created by the Xel’Naga as a way to end their creations and start over. It’s a race against the clock as the Zerg begin to leave Char and warp to Aiur to assist the Overmind… betrayal and death a wait!
And far in the abyss... we heard its call...
Playable Features:
Race: Protoss

Larger than Legacy of a Warrior
May be voiced, I don’t know, we'll just have to wait.
Brood War only
Characters:
Steward Mel’an [imgwh 60x56]http://saga.samods.org/scport/modpprev/modtemplar2.jpg[/imgwh]
[imgwh 190x319]http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k121/ ... athiel.jpg[/imgwh] The Steward defied and was shunned by most of the Conclave because of the fact that he wanted to be taught under Tassadar even though he knew that Tassadar defied many laws of the Conclave to try and have the Dark Templar aid them. After Tassadar's lengthy departure when he should of returned home to Aiur to report about his 'purification' mission. Mel'an rose slowly in the ranks for his decision but was granted at the beginning of the Zerg's invasion to find an artifact that he referred to be created by the Xel'Naga. They sent their spy Z'Lura to watch over him to make sure he isn’t leading a wild-goose chase or that if it is true he doesn’t be consumed by the power of the artifact. Mel'an was eager to try and claim it but he came into a brooding depression from the call aggravated him but still pressed him forward, Z'Lura will later have to take action...
Templar Z'Lura [imgwh 60x56]http://saga.samods.org/scport/modpprev/modfenix2.jpg[/imgwh]
[imgwh 320x320]http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k121/ ... ires_2.jpg[/imgwh] The Templar was a warrior like many Templar, he idolized Fenix as the fighting spirit of Aiur. As any Protoss Warrior, Z'Lura craved action and bloodshed among his brothers. He didn’t receive much as instead he was forced to serve with the Steward Mel’an in a mission to reclaim an artifact of immeasurable power, power enough to burn the Zerg to the ground even a being such as the Overmind and his Cerebrates. He referred to the mission to nothing but 'research project, a youngling could perform it himself' and not a warrior in his standards but still agreed to partake in the mission. When he discovered Mel'an became into a depression from the countless call of the artifact he decided he may have to take action and when he finds a dead Protoss on the ship he believed Mel'an has turned due to the object's power. When searching for him he is then captured by other rogue Protoss under his sway, which he then marks Mel'an as a traitor to the Protoss of Aiur.
Grotes'k [imgwh 60x56]http://saga.samods.org/scport/cuszprev/WiBoDHydra.gif[/imgwh]
[imgwh 293x319]http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k121/ ... es_res.jpg[/imgwh] Grotes’k is a loyal servant to his Cerebrate Marganth. Before the invasion he was the first Hydralisk to ever contain his own small but efficient brood. The Cerberus Brood. Sending a spy to the Protoss Conclave, which spent more time on Tassadar, the Overmind found out the mission to retrieve the artifact somewhere in the middle of the Koprulu Sector. He thinks that it is easy for any brood and decides to send Grotes'k and his rag-tag brood to destroy the Protoss and retrieve the artifact to the Overmind where he can use it against the Protoss and make them bow before the Zerg. Grotes'k sees the angered Mel'an trying to retrieve the artifact and Z'Lura arrives later, Grotes'k and Mel'an duel but Grotes'k is burned by the power of the dark artifact under Mel’an...
Commander Franz [imgwh 60x56]http://saga.samods.org/scport/modtprev/modmarine2.jpg[/imgwh]
[imgwh 192x319]http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k121/ ... -hires.jpg[/imgwh] Commander Franz defected from the Terran Dominion to be with his family in a planet far from war, near the artifact's resting place. As head of the Sorellian Militia he makes sure no threat comes to his colony until the day Mel'an and Z'Lura arrived to make the planet their base. Under Z'Lura they enjoyed the battle, the Protoss ambushed the outer outposts and sent a message to the militia this planet is theirs now. In a large heated battle Z’Lura defeats the Commander. Mel'an offers him to retreat believing in Tassadar's sympathy for Terrans but Commander wishes to not leave his home or family and fights Z'Lura but is no match for the Templar's Psi Blades and is killed quick. He led though at first the Militia to halt the large advance from the south and push Z'Lura back to the main entrance where the weakened militia met its end.

(Cerebrate Marganth? The Cerebrate that appeared in Legacy of a Warrior was called Morganth Does he is the same with the name changed?)

Re: New Campaign: Call from the Abyss...
No, Morganth is obliterated by the Protoss when they purify Grest, which happened after the Confederacy was destroyed. Marganth is a Cerebrate that bears just a coincidence name, controls a different brood with different attitude. He was created merely as a Cerebrate to replace Zasz and his brood on Aiur.

Re: New Campaign: Call from the Abyss...
Okay. I agree that is not the same Cerebrate. But even so, Morganth could not die in Grest. Remember, THE CEREBRATES CAN ONLY DIE IF THEY'RE KILLED BY DARK TEMPLARS.
However, you do not need to explain that has happened to the Cerebrate Morganth. (Unless you'll make a second part of Legacy of a Warrior, which I doubt)
Well, I hope you have luck in making this campaign. When you think you have it finished?

I don't see why should everyone stick to the canonical lore. If Marine says that the cerebrate died in the purification, then that's how it happened. Even a critter can kill the cerebrates, if someone makes a campaign like that.

Thanks Revan. Tassadar piloted the ship to destroy the planet and the Cerebrate. Could have juiced that cannon up with some dark templar energy lol.

Anyway, this campaign sounds promising, and I hope that soon we can get to it.

Thanks. And I cant say really. Building the terrain for the maps is pretty simple on the map editor but the custom MPQ and the triggering will take awhile. Plus with more maps, and if I decide to wish it to be voiced it will take longer. Maybe half to a full year im guessing, in the end or near the end ill post a update on due date.omega20 wrote:Well, I hope you have luck in making this campaign. When you think you have it finished?

Remember this isnt a renegade brood. Marganth is loyal to the Overmind and was ordered to send Grotes'k to kill Mel'an. And this is during the invasion of Aiur, the Overmind is live and well.agentheart wrote: without overmind celebrates died and overmind kill renegrades

If the Overmind still alive during this campaign, will he appear in the campaign?

Could be. Tassadar shall appear in the first map as it shows them capture him and Mel'an arrives to the conclave about the vision he sees. The Overmind may be shown as I have his voices.omega20 wrote: If the Overmind still alive during this campaign, will he appear in the campaign?

Would you still bother if SC2 came out in the coming year?

Hmm, yes I'd hope to finish it. This campaign I'll put an exceptional amount of detail into it, which is one factor as to why it shall take so long. Plus not everyday I'll be working on it (got to get out to the outside world too
) but I MAY due to seeing the cinematics that are in the SC2 engine, I'll probably recreate it later onto the SC2 engine which will give it more playability and detail.
I can be certain it wont be in the next 2-3 months, most likely 4-5 but like I said anything can change.

And if the dam breaks open many years too soon, And if there is no room upon the hill, And if your head explodes from dark forbodings too, I'll see you on the Dark Side of the Moon.

Re: New Campaign: Call from the Abyss...
Well Legacy of a Warrior is roughly 5-6 MISSIONS total (not counting all the interludes and cut game scenes) and I intend to have this campaign larger than Legacy of a Warrior. Maybe 8+, its still in early stages right now I am just working on map 1 really.
